I would love to see a home game there sometime, its seems like a mirror image of Mayfield. We too have the Cards can drink displays for big games. I love the Friday Night Lights feel to these special towns on a fall Friday

I've been down there a couple of times great atmosphere and great for HS football. Very nice people very hospitable.

Great article, ATL. This is truly an amazing group.

As good as these guys have been, they step it up a notch when the weather turns cold. They have peaked during the playoffs (a trait common to Philip Haywood teams) and have been perfect.

 

In the 17 playoff games they have outscored the opponent 690-110, an average margin of 41-7

 

Defense has been incredible.

To piggyback on this thought, a little more info. I know Belfry's offense has gotten a lot of credit, and rightfully so, but if you want to look for the reason for Belfry's playoff success, look no further than the other side of the ball. As the old saying goes, defense wins championships, and that seems to hold true for this group. In those 17 playoff wins, this defense has set the tone.

 

There have been only two games decided by 7 or less points. 2013 Championship vs Wayne Co 3-0, and 2014 Championship 14-7 vs Central.

12 of the 17 wins have been of the running clock variety, thanks to only allowing 7 points per game.

The defense has given up an average of 151 yards of total offense per game (83 rushing, 68 passing)

No opponent has scored more than 14 points

11 opponents have scored 7 or less, and 6 of them have been shutouts.

 

Hard to beat a team that limits you to those numbers.
