Scott vs. Dixie Predictions

Featured Replies

This will be a great game. If it were not Dixie's first home game in their new stadium I would say Scott wins this one pretty handily. As it is I will say Scott still spoils the Dixies party by 1.

Although Scott has been thumped by Dixie the past couple of years, I think Scott has a chance to win this game because 1) Like someone else said, new facilities and its Dixie's first home game 2) Scott should be 3-0 but late turnovers have been devastating. I think Scott will turn things around this time, therefore:

Scott 24

Dixie 21

Scott by 14

Scott always gets the jokes thrown at them in nky, everyone is use to it Dixie is down a little from past years thats why you have people picking Scott over them. Scott is a better team then everyone gives them credit for but until they beat a team like Dixie they will get no credit. Its going to be a better game then everyone thinks but oh well got another week to wait to see.

The Mold they had at Scott last year must have really affected some people.

Sandman32......It's a shame that you have said out loud (again) what has been said all over town. Do you really think that the team is not aware of how the showed in the first two games? Are you sure that you're a Dixie fan or just another self proclaimed critic? I'm not sure if you have a son on the team or not but are you really sure that you know what the guys have been doing in the off season? IMO it takes a team, not just a few good men to make the team. If the leadership is lacking on the senior level than how do younger players step over to lead? Maybe in a perfect world of "fantasy football" that would work but in high school reality, its not going to happen without big problems. As for Dixie, they're doing just fine. True fans are fans to the end and encourage the team when things get tough, critics are a dime a dozen.

I think you're questioning the wrong man here. SM32 is a true Dixie fan who is one of the biggest rah-rah posters, but he also says it like it is. I'm sure the team is aware of their situation, but until they play like they should, people will continue to talk about their poor play. We're talking about an experienced team. They don't need to be told everything will work out, just keep working. They need a foot up the rear, which I'm sure Sorrell has provided numerous times already. Last year's team was the perfect example of a team that people needed to sugar coat everything so they wouldn't lose confidence, but not this year. Not a defending championship team full of returning starters and others with significant varsity experience.

Easy, performance. If someone will step up, give 100% each play, and put up results, others will follow, seniors included. I've been to 2 games this year, and each game players have been walking around the sidelines yelling for people to step up. Instead of yelling at everyone else, they need to step up. Trust me, once one player steps up, others will follow. It's a classic example of the snowball effect. And please don't say there are players out there giving 100%. The line isn't sustaining blocks, the running backs are hitting the holes hard, the qb isn't going through his reads, the wide receivers aren't catching and blocking, the defensive line isn't get penetration, the linebackers aren't shedding blockers and getting to the ball carrier, the db's are getting beat, etc. Granted, they may have shown a better performance against CCH, but I wasn't there to witness.

For those people that posted Dixe would loose. Do a little homework and tell me when the last time it is that that happened vs. Scott High School. I know it's fun to dream, but no way. Coach Sorrel will have the defensive intensity he's looking for in this game. That will carry over to the O. Dixie wins, of that I'm sure. Just wondering if the team has embarresed itself sufficiently to do something with the rest of the season. There is no excuse for the poor start. And no, i'm not talking about the scores. I'm talking about the effort and lack of preperation that has gone into getting ready for this season. For a team that should be barn burners to start out like they have, is terrible and embarrising for a Dixie Fan. Heck, I may be the loudest, proudest, and biggest rah rah guy on here we have. But you guys have let me and all the colonel fans down to this point. Give us a reason to brag again Colonels. Remeber, no one gives you anything in life, you have to earn it. An impressive win vs. the Eagles would be a good place to start with me. Captains, work on leading. Be more vocal, be tuff, be mean, and demand hard nosed play. don't settle for sloppy play or lethargy. Last week was an improvement, but lets be real, a 28-7 loss is nothing to hang your hat on. We are not where we should be at this point in the season. We should be 2-1, not 0-3. Take advantage of the bye week and work. Do the extra running organized by players like you had to do last season. Why you might ask? BECAUSE LAST YEARS TEAM DID NOT COME INTO THE SEASON IN FOOTBALL SHAPE EITHER. I thought that maybe, just maybe, that you guys might have learned a little from what happened last season.

Has Dixie ever lost to Scott?

Scott by 14

Scott only beat Carroll Co. by 6, and you think they're going to beat Dixie by 14. That is the funniest thing I have seen today. Thanks.

Dixie will win this one by at least three touchdowns.

I'm sorry, I don't want to be confrontational, but I trust Sandman's opinions over about any I've seen. He has more knowledge of NKYFB and for personal reasons has a great love for Dixie. If you've read any posts on this site you would see is not 'a self proclaimed critic', but he in this case, is critical of the subject that he is a great fan of. I don't know of anyone on this site that has been a bigger supporter of Dixie...

I'm a lifelong fan of Scott and have been waiting for Sandman's opinion on the state of Dixie going into next week's game...

Glad to see you back Sandman!

I believe that Scott will be up for this game. It's a natural rivalry even though Dixie hasn't lost in this matchup in decades. Scott's confidence and Dixie's lack of putting the pieces together just yet will keep this game from being a total blowout. I look for Dixie to gradually pull away.

Dixie 31

Scott 14

If anyone has the Ky post from tuesday they do have Scott not Scott County because Scott county was higher on the list. And SK was two behind them. I didnt blieve it either until someone showed me.

I'm almost certain those votes for Scott were from pollsters leaving the "County" off of their Scott County votes. Just like in NKY, Boone County is often referred to as just Boone.

No way, that would be Scott County maybe. They're a quite a bit different than Scott High School. I'm not sure Scott High School is 16 teams up from the bottom of the class. With that said, I am so dissapointed in the Colonels to this point I hate to even pick them now. But I will.

There is no excuse for the poor play thus far. Hopefully the internet superstars have realized that you have to work hard and play with heart. Get mean, get nasty, and get back on track Colonels. Play with reckless abandon. Smack somebody. Don't go out for four quarters and play patty cake. Hit somebody and make 'em blow snot bubbles, then do it again and again. I want to have a reason to beat my chest and up untill now, I got nothing.

Actually saw that Scott was, in fact, ranked higher than any other NKY 4A team in the latest state poll. Not Scott Co. Wonder who could have voted for that? Probably safe to say that this is the first time that Scott has been ranked in the state polls.

:thumb: If you hadn't done it, I wouldv'e. What a terrible way to welcome SM32 back! :irked:

As far as the game goes:

Where in the world do Scott fans draw this kind of optimism from? The 2-8 mark last year? 1 winning season in 25+ yrs of football? I can't even remember the last time they were in the GAME with Dixie, much less a win. New year, same old Scott. Lots of talk, but no action. Ever heard of the saying "let sleeping dogs lie?" Because Dixie had been asleep at the wheel for the first 3 weeks, but comments like the ones I have read will only serve to fuel the fire of what has been, to this point, a rather lethargic Dixie Heights Colonels squad.

On a side note, SM32 I feel your pain, and I can totally picture you cursing under your breath right now!

Speaking for myself, an Eagle fan, I don't think we have too high of expectations. Is Dixie in a down year? Maybe. We won't know for a couple of months. They have played some monster competition and that should be noted. Is Scott better this year? Maybe a little. Is there a chance that Dixie is looking past Scott? Maybe. Is Dixie distracted by all the hoopla of their Grand Opening? Maybe. Did Dixie take the week off from practicing? (I heard yes, but can't confirm.) Did Scott? No. Does Scott players feel disrespected? Yes. (No player on either team was born since the last time Scott beat Dixie.) Is Dixie the better team? Probably, they usually are. Could the Eagles pull an upset? I don't know, but it would be great...

By the way, if it takes some (rather mild) postings on a web site by some over eager Scott fans to motivate Dixie, what does that say about Dixie's state of readiness?

Dixie has had practice all week............

Did Dixie take the week off from practicing? (I heard yes, but can't confirm.) QUOTE]

I can't say that this isn't true but that would be a bold move for a team that is 0-3 and in a down year as posters on here have said. I say no way it is true probably hype someone at Scott is using to motivate the Eagles.

Fisky beat me to the punch

Sorry. Like I said, I heard it through the grapevine, it wasn't confirmed. I couldn't imagine them taking the week off.

Wow I can't believe that some people are actually predicitng Scott to beat Dixie. No disrespect to the Eagles but in the past 5 meetings, they have been beaten by an average score of 52-10. The closest game of the two was when they were in 3A in 2000 and Dixie beat them 35-6.

I don't see this year being any different.

Dixie- 42

Scott- 6
