November 9, 20169 yr So you skipped the first two, that had racism in the title... Got it. :lol2: Marie Claire is a women's magazine...very long standing. Obviously you can't believe anything a women's magazine might say about...women's issues and concerns.
November 9, 20169 yr Honest question, you were one of the posters that supported neither candidate correct? If so, would you be as upset if Hillary had won? I wouldn't be. She didn't invoke the fear and hatred that Trump did and despite her warts I didn't fear her leadership. She didn't get my vote because of her role in the prison for profit legislation that she and Bill pushed through and because she is the original birther. I believe her to be as racist as Trump. I didn't fear her leadership though. I fear his. A lot of people have been empowered by Trump and his campaign. Whether people want to admit it or not there is a ton of open racism in America these days. People aren't hiding it anymore because they feel they don't have to. We have people in our own state being openly racist and elected to positions in the House of Representatives. Yes, that concerns and scares the hell out of me.
November 9, 20169 yr I wish I had known you too put a ban on yourself, I left somewhere around 10/24. If y'all like, I'll ban myself going forward.
November 9, 20169 yr He ran on "I'm not them" and never had to say how he was going to accomplish his goals. People complain about debt growing yet voted for a guy whose tax plan has no chance of doing anything but increase debt. This was an "anyone but...." vote.[/QUOTE] I would agree this had a lot to do with it.
November 9, 20169 yr If y'all like, I'll ban myself going forward. Hope you enjoyed your working vacation. The only reason I left was because I did not want to get myself in hock and get the forum closed again. Sometimes I speak bluntly. Guess that doesn't surprise anyone.

We have people in our own state being openly racist and elected to positions in the House of Representatives. Yes, that concerns and scares the hell out of me. I am around hundreds of people every day, and I have been for years. Maybe, I am really in a vacuum, but the last racism I saw, and that was in a small business, was roughly 30 years ago - in the Boston area. Where I have worked and work the message is diversity and the enjoying benefits of it...not just racial, but cultural and generational. I don't see a loud mouthed idiot standing up at a rally yelling inappropriate things as acceptable or as a comment on our society any more than I see young protestors who's candidate lost the election out blocking traffic as representative of our youth. What we do have now are out of millions and millions of interactions each day, due to the modern miracles of technology, one or even several interactions which may have inflammatory content are now taken as representative of our entire culture and value set. It doesn't make these interactions meaningless or insignificant, but it doesn't make them the norm either.

Guess that doesn't surprise anyone. Same for me. @rockmom knows herself if she needs to self ban. Not up to me. No need to post like we are not here.
November 9, 20169 yr Hope you enjoyed your working vacation. The only reason I left was because I did not want to get myself in hock and get the forum closed again. Sometimes I speak bluntly. Guess that doesn't surprise anyone. Sometimes I do as well. Most don't appreciate it, but I think it's one of my best features. :lol2:

It doesn't make these interactions meaningless or insignificant, but it doesn't make them the norm either. Everyone is different. I'm grateful all of my coworkers from both skin shades are still pleasant despite the sketchy things they say on Facebook daily. It's amazing we haven't had an unnecessary event at work. At the same time I see, read and hear all of the things they say. I don't mind the Trump supporters. I do mind the racially insensitive, hateful Trump supporters and in my experience there are a good number of both kinds of Trump supporters. I also think there are a lot of Trump supporters that see and hear the racial overtures that came from Trump and his campaign and turned a deaf ear to it. That is bothersome too but I have been seeing that since my high school days so that is nothing new. Just the way it is.
November 9, 20169 yr I think we should have came together more under Obama yes. I would LOVE for you to show an example of you posting this...
November 9, 20169 yr Sometimes I do as well. Most don't appreciate it, but I think it's one of my best features. :lol2: My Mother, saint that she was raising five boys and five girls, would get on my case about being judgmental. Didn't think she was right then but now I know she was. With age comes knowledge. I'm working on that and another one is stay off the referees. I do hope we have some fruitful discussions and not drive one another crazy. Trump is no politician, he doesn't owe anything to anyone. He is neither R or D since the two parties each disowned him. Maybe that will give him some leverage when he brings the two battling parties face to face. #1. I don't care who or how it gets done but we need affordable health insurance without pre-existing conditions and not these high ded. and high max out of pocket and outrageous premiums. The only people who are locked into a current company because of pre/cond are senior citizens. Did not know that until last year, we were going to switch, the new co. took Papaw and rejected me because I've probably set a record for surgery, none of which was cancer related. I liked one idea not using government monies, that was floated on CNBC to raise money for infrastructures, was selling bonds like they did to pay for WWII. You guys who know so much more than me, what do you think?
November 9, 20169 yr I would LOVE for you to show an example of you posting this... Politics in 2016: If you're against the guy in the big chair you keep working on being divided in order to use it to your side's advantage. If you're FOR the guy in the big chair you call for unity in the name of the country's well-being.
November 9, 20169 yr Author I would LOVE for you to show an example of you posting this... I never said I posted that exact thing. So that picture is not coming. But speaking of pictures I do have alot of screenshots from this forum about the election. But not posting them either.
November 9, 20169 yr Big winner yesterday: Weed It will probably be short-lived. Decent chance Christie or Giuliani get appointed AG. While running for President Christie vowed to prosecute it. Chris Christie doubles down on marijuana comments - POLITICO Also, I'm pretty sure Pence is no friend to marijuana legalization.
November 9, 20169 yr Well it's not State's Rights, maybe it should be but it's not right now. It is still illegal by Federal Law, FBI/ATF/DEA could go to California or Colorado today and shut down every dispensary if they wanted to. I have no problem with it being left to each state, but currently several states are willfully breaking Federal Law. Willfully is probably a little strong. Cole Memo
