He won't be.

Yes he will. Or he will not be a success. I believe he's smart enough to realize that...

I think he's a 2. He's a shooter and a scorer. NBA PG's will dominate him and he'll be able to compete with the 2's.

And I think you are wrong. Time will tell...

He's also still a teenager, see what he weighs in 3 yrs. I know I sure weighed more from 18 to 21. I agree with GT, Mayo is PG all the way.

Allen Iverson has primarily played the 2 in the NBA. He's a shooter and scorer and matches up better with NBA 1's than 2's. I can't see OJ matching up with NBA PG's.

Mayo will be 19 in two months. He will be 21 at the beginning of his first season in the NBA if he goes into the draft at first chance. He will be fully grown. What happens if he goes to college one year and doesn't blow people away. How much can his draft stock possibly drop in one year?

At a big school it can drop a lot. He needs to win and dominate in college or it drops.

I would caution those that think he is over the hump. Randolph Morris had a better chance of being drafted out of high school than after either of his first two college seasons. I am not comparing Morris to Mayo just using him as an example. I got another one for you Felipe Lopez, on the cover of SI while in HS went to St Johns ended up scoring over 1000 I think but never could quite make it in the league.

Lopez made some money in the NBA, I don't think he ever live up to his early hype however.

How big is Michael Redd or Ray Allen?

I will answer my own questions. Allen 6'5" 205lbs, Redd 6'6" 210 lbs, and one other Raja Bell 6'5" 210lbs.

OJ is big enough if he is good enough.

If you ask me it comes down to desire and work ethic. Size is not the most important of attributes when it comes to a career in professional sports. We could all sit here and list countless names of guys in the NFL, MLB, and NBA who were either deemed to small or a "tweener" or whatever. The kid has talent, and hopefully he has the work ethic to match. That is what will make or break his success in college and the NBA.

These guys are 3 of the great shooters in the NBA and Bell is a lockdown type of defender. Does OJ have that kind of shot and that kind of defensive ability? I'm not saying he does or doesn't, but those height guys are seemingly top notch shooters from the examples you give.

6'5" 210 won't sniff the "strongest biggest guards in the NBA!!!" Especially since OJ is not a point guard. That's maller than Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Melo, and it's smaller than most of the bad to average 2 guards in the NBA.

That is as big or bigger than Wade, and Bron and Melo play the 3. He is about the size of most NBA 2G's, but he will try to play PG.
