October 31, 20169 yr I havent seen or heard in a while when or if he will be back or even what is actually wrong to keep him out so long. Does anyone know?
October 31, 20169 yr Sounds like it's still the back injury. I'd assume they are being extra cautious.

October 31, 20169 yr I still think he's the best option if fully healthy. He very well may be. He was pretty bad the first two games though, and since Johnson has taken over they're 5-1. There's no way they sit Johnson at this point.
October 31, 20169 yr At best I think that Barker will have to fight to be the starter. I don't think it will be just handed to him.

He was pretty dang good the first half of S. Miss game. The entire team stunk in the second half. He was bad against UF but again the entire was too. Johnson was pretty dang bad against Vandy. The passing game will never be a threat with Johnson.

Seem to be two QB's who bring very different talents to the table, but they share the same struggle (turnovers). Part of me agrees with UKMF, in that 5-1 speaks for itself. Another part of me agrees with HT that Barker is simply the better QB of the two.

October 31, 20169 yr Agreed. He was hurt during the Florida game if I am not mistaken. He took a nasty shot that game. Offensive line play seems to have greatly improved since those first few games.

The change in offensive philosophy has helped Johnson tremendously and that change was made necessary by Johnson's inability to be a consistent passer. As was mentioned, the passing game is not a threat with Johnson in the game and at this point his sample size is bigger than Drew's sample size. I prefer to see more of Barker at QB when healthy but I want Barker at 100% when he comes back and I see no reason to disrupt the chemistry of this team this season at this point.
October 31, 20169 yr Can Drew Barker get a medical redshirt? With Kentucky all but assured of a bowl game at this point, wouldn't it make more sense to give him that redshirt to maximize the amount of time he'll still have left at UK? Let him heal without rush and then participate in late season/bowl practices.
