Christian County 38 John Hardin 0

Yes. I believe that both Johnson Central and Belfry would be favored over PRP this season. By this time of the season, computer rankings such as Calpreps are fairly accurate. Calpreps has both JC and Belfry ranked among the top six teams in the state in all classes. PRP is ranked 19th and Christian County 16th.

Even if you believe that those rankings are upside down, to simply assume that Johnson Central would lose to both PRP and CC based on their 2015 state championship game performance would be a mistake. Johnson Central's best teams in the past gave a couple of outstanding, very athletic Highlands state title teams their most competitive playoff games and this Golden Eagles team may well be their best ever. Johnson Central enters the playoffs this season much healthier than they were last season and the team has played a much stronger schedule to prepare.

While your enthusiasm for JC is great, I must say you are clueless if you think they would even give PRP a game. Please don't kid yourself how your team would stack up against a very good 6A team. I also don't think JC would give Christian County a game either. They would both be blowouts.

Hoss, if your line doesn't play well next week, don't be surprised if you are not in for a game with Franklin County.

No doubt about it T2T.

We shall see how powerful those western Kentucky teams are soon enough. Johnson Central will not face more athletic teams than they have already faced in the regular season. They are not unbeatable, but they are much, much better than you are giving them credit for, and so is Belfry.

At this point, I will be surprised if it isn't a close game. I do think JH will win, but I'm sure they will find a way to keep Franklin County in the game.

Who is most athletic team they have faced thus far?

I think someone said it best... brutal schedule for a 4A school. Looks similar to the old Louisville Central schedules when they would finish 6-4 or 5/5. I bet every 4A school would have finished with near the same record. I can't speak on JC because they are in the East and I haven't seen them play. Christian,PRP, and BG are ALL very good. I remember the days when people would knock John Hardin's schedule because they said it was very weak. Now that they have strengthened the schedule and lost a few games people are crying because they lost games to 10-0 BG, 8-2 Christian, and PRP (losses to male, x, and T). Comical too me. 95% of the state will lose to these teams.

Belfry and Capital. Belfry's line are bigger and faster than any team Johnson Central has ever faced, IMO. Their lineup includes at least three D1 recruits, and junior fullback Wellman, who just returned from an injury, was very impressive against Johnson Central. Capital features the top recruit in West Virginia and has committed to WVU.

If you want to watch Johnson Central and Belfry for yourself, the replay is available now:

I agree that Johnson Central is the favorite, but you're way too locked in on South Warren. Both Franklin-Simpson and Hopkinsville are capable teams.

Franklin-Simpson squeaked by a South Warren team whose lineup was depleted by injuries to key players. If those players are fully recovered and South Warren survives long enough to allow those players to shake off the rust, then I don't think will be a stronger 4A team in the west. That is a big if.

Looking at the strengths of schedule, I don't think either FS or Hopkinsville's schedules have been strong enough to prepare them for a team like Johnson Central. Hopkinsville's close game with Christian County shows that they are capable of playing a good team competitively, but one game is not much to judge a team's strength on.

John Hardin has played a stronger schedule, but the strong teams have blown them out and they have blown out most of the weak teams on their schedule. That kind of schedule does not build much player confidence and does not allow a team to gain any momentum for the playoffs.

If I were Coach Jim Matney, I would be more concerned about facing a healthy South Warren team than I would any of the other potential representatives from the west. OTOH, Coach Matney would welcome a shot at a rematch. But there are a few games to play before worrying about matchups in BG. Rockcastle County has played a solid schedule and is 9-1. They have been very underrated most of this season, IMO.

I think you're overstating the injuries that South had entering that game. They did lose Litten mid-game, but going in, had them, or at least as many as they're going to have at any point moving forward. They also beat the other Kentucky team that beat South Warren.

You could be right that a fully healthy South is the biggest threat, but honestly, I don't think that's the case. I really think South is going to have an incredible fight just to even get back to Franklin. I do not expect South to make it to the state finals, hence I believe you're way too locked in. I'll repeat again though, that I expect JC is going to win it.

DF you are alittle of base with your statement. If SW played FS today you would see 5 different starters on Off and and 4 on Defence .On O # 2,3 recievers and center and guard on line plus Litten. On D 2 in secondary LB and sparkman got hurt on 3rd play oh and Ford will be ready so that makes 5 and 2 other starters didn't practice til Thursday that week.I don't know why you keep saying South was at full speed .They weren't even close.

Different starters is not the same as "not full strength". Who was out of that game that was a starter that will be here now? Re-tooling is not the same thing. And it feels like you keep implying that South has made changes and improvements while every other team stands still.

Litten played in the game, so he would not apply. Yes, he left the game, and that's when their fortunes went permanently bad, but they also had long stretches they didn't set the world on fire before that. South has talent, but they are also inconsistent. Even on Friday that was on display.

You could be totally right about what South will be, but it's the way you seem to have so little regard for the capabilities of other teams that consistently surprises me. South is not what they were last year, yet at times, it seems you feel they are. I don't think you appreciate the challenges in front of this team, and I will want/need to see them do something against a team like Hoptown before I can jump back on the wagon. Wins over East, AC/S, and Warren Central do not do it. The JP2 game highlights the inconsistency. If the team that outscored them 35-7 in the middle part shows up, sure, South is in good shape. If the one that was outscored 49-7 on the bookends gets on the field, you're in real trouble.

My message to both you and Dino remains the same - these are capable teams that are in South's way, and they are capable teams if they were to meet Johnson Central. I have South rated fifth right now. That's not to say I think South can't win it, but I do believe they have easily the toughest road of the contenders.

I am not saying they are as good as last year .What my point is there were several starters out or went out .Again I will spell it out to you Starters out.Center ,guard,Qb,#2 #3 recovers and they both start on defence and lb also Sparkman went out 3rd play of game these are not new or replacements they were starters before getting hurt .That doesn't include Bush or Ford who are now healthy and will be eligible .That make

8 starters and Litten out late .plus two who would have started game 1 if they were in field .But let me say it one more time 7 starters were not on the field when game started!and 1 3plays in.plus Litten late.and 2 that hadnt played all year.it was not just Litten late like you try to say.

About JP2 SW came out slow Litten was a little tenitive for a quarter then played like he is capable.at the end Smith pulled several out to make sure they stayed healthy and Lacy was one and JP2 took advantage of it .

Spin,

I know you feel this is clear, but to me this post is like trying to break the German code in WWII. I hope @DragonFire can decipher it.

So basically you had 7 or 8 starter out for the Franklin game and now they are back. Is that what you are trying to say?

I think South can go a long way, but they are also a couple re-injuries away from not going very far either.
