It's difficult to pinpoint for this team. I don't know about the other 4A teams but JH has very good skill position players, but like hoss and some others have noted their line play is atrocious. Plus this team lacks some serious leadership issues, which lends to the up and down play for the team. It can go either way and neither would surprise me

 

And eventually the subpar line play and lack of leadership will cost them in the playoffs. I just don't know when or where. But it will happen.

5a weakest division in ky Christian co not scary at all.CC is a good team .I am confused about JH .Beginning of year I thought 3-4 .I don't think they are much better than 10-12 .

I don't think any would have faired much better. Forgetting the North Hardin loss, which was atrocious, they have lost to PRP, BG and CC. I don't know if any other 4A teams would beat those three teams.

4A #4 Hopkinsville only lost to PRP by 4 and John Hardin, which is not a top 6 4A team is Christian County's best win.

 

Johnson Central would be favored over both PRP and Christian County and a solid underdog against BG, along with almost every other team in the state. A game between Franklin Simpson and PRP would be a toss-up, IMO, and they would have a fighting chance to upset CC.

I would love to see this explanation too... BG, Owensboro, and Christian Co are 3 of the best teams in WKY. Greenwood and Graves when healthy arent bad either. I think 3A and 4A are probably the weakest on this side of the state. Definately not 5A.

You think Johnson Central would be favored over a PRP team that just ran the clock on Louisville Central? A team that also played St. X to 10 & (I forget the scores at the times of the game) battled Trinity for 3 quarters and some change nip and tuck before Trinity won by 19.

 

There isn't a bigger fan of Doug Preston and Franklin-Simpson than I, either, but you think the same with them matched up with PRP?

 

For what it's worth. John Hardin had an impressive showing against Christian Counry last year; a game in which they won while rushing for over 400 yards. Three weeks later against a Shelby County team that I'd saw was a draw bt them and Christian, John got smashed. While their showing vs Christian is disappointing; I don't feel that they "needed" an impressive showing. They had that last year and didn't win their Region.

Saw their best last season. Most people from your neck of the woods are picking somebody else to represent the west this season because it is very difficult for a team to regain top form after suffering so many key injuries so deep into the regular season. SW is the west's best hope of denying JC its first title, IMO, but they have a tough row to hoe to get to BG.

4A west is loaded with about 6 or 7 teams that can get on A role and win west.

Hoss, if your line doesn't play well next week, don't be surprised if you are not in for a game with Franklin County.

Yes. I believe that both Johnson Central and Belfry would be favored over PRP this season. By this time of the season, computer rankings such as Calpreps are fairly accurate. Calpreps has both JC and Belfry ranked among the top six teams in the state in all classes. PRP is ranked 19th and Christian County 16th.

 

Even if you believe that those rankings are upside down, to simply assume that Johnson Central would lose to both PRP and CC based on their 2015 state championship game performance would be a mistake. Johnson Central's best teams in the past gave a couple of outstanding, very athletic Highlands state title teams their most competitive playoff games and this Golden Eagles team may well be their best ever. Johnson Central enters the playoffs this season much healthier than they were last season and the team has played a much stronger schedule to prepare.
