Bracken County 22 Nicholas County 21

Sorry the BGP rankings aren't making you feel better about Bracken County, but the BGP rankings are absolutely the most accurate. There is much more "science" than subjective opinion in the BGP rankings.

A handful of subjective opinion and a computer? How different is that vs the AP or LIT? Like I said rankings are cool and gives a lot of subject matter for debates but they are all the same in some way or another. Y'all do put in a lot of good work. But at the end of the day it still a matter of opinion and a computer.

I don't use rankings to feel good about my team. Just the opposite I think these rankings are fueling the fire for our boys. Always overlooked. No big target on their backs. Keep up the good work.

From what I've heard Bracken County had some injuries Friday is that true?

Can you explain the ranking process? I thought it was based on a select group of members opinions.

Solid win and they could sqeek in at 10. But you got to think Bracken lost to Brossart by 3 scores..Nicholas bear Brossart by 2 scores.. Only thing I can say is its a wild district...

I also think it was a good thing Nicholas lost a tough game before the playoffs. Teams learn more from losses than winning games.

If you get down to it every poll is based on a select number of people's opinions. The difference is how they approach the job. I believe the BGP ranking committee puts in more attention and work than anyone else doing rankings in Kentucky. The committee will look at various computer rankings and film and look closely at strength of schedule to determine the rankings. BGP looks at strength of schedule more closely than anyone else. Strength of schedule is more important than a team's record. The AP looks to me like they pay almost no attention to strength of schedule

Okay, I am going out on an unpopular limb, so bear with me and don't chop it off too quickly. Having seen BC twice (Harlan and Brossart), they will pass no ones beauty test. Hard pressed to complete passes in even warmups, big, appear slow, problems with both phases of kicking. But, I was very pleasantly shocked when the whistle blew. The Bears will flat knock your head off your shoulders with ground and pound. These guys have heart and give Coach Sizemore everything they have. They have good speed in the backfield and have improved their passing and punting significantly.

I, for one, think the #2 seed works very favorably and much better than a bye into the 2nd round. Fairview is their first ever home playoff game, and its winnable giving them a strong and exciting base of momentum for the 2nd round game. If I understand, that 2nd round would be at Nicholas which was unfortunate to draw the bye. (Most coaches I know would much prefer not being inactive during 1st round...miss tune-up against normally a weak #4 seed....untimely change of routine for players...staleness sets in versus the benefits of healing and scouting).

This is a pretty exciting opportunity for the Bears. The polls don't treat them kindly, but, unfotunstely they are often pretty accurate. Here's one oldercoach that thinks Coach Sizemore, his staff, and all the Bears are to be commended for their wonderful season and what appears to be a solid, fundamentals football base to build the program on into the future.

If Bracken wins they will travel to Paintsville.. Nicholas will get the winner of Brossart and Raceland.

You could be 100% correct. On the KHSAA website the murky instructions seem to indicate otherwise. think Brossart has the Raceland, then Paintsville track. But, again I could be reading the site wrong. Hope Mustang reads and clears my possible confusion.

Should be like this

D5-1 vs D6-4

D6-2 vs D5-3

Then

D6-1 vs D5-4

D5-2 vs D6-3

If Bracken wins they will travel to Paintsville.. Nicholas will get the winner of Brossart and Raceland.

Went back to site and read again, I concur with your conclusion that Bracken goes to Paintsville should the higher seeds win in Round 1. Thanks bac2369 for the clarification. Still feel strongly that the Bears are better served by the opportunity of a home, playoff cictory in Round #1, than an inactive, non-win Bye.

I agree you get a team with confidence after a big win and a home playoff game and a win there there confidence will be way up..

So Nicholas beats Brossart by 10, Brossart beats Bracken by 20, Bracken beats Nicholas by 1. Paris has close games with Bracken and Nicholas, and gets in a shoot out with Brossart. So the question is, how good is this district?

The top 4 teams are sitting at a combined record of 26-10 right now with two 7-2 teams and one 8-1 team. Pretty competitive 1A football from the looks of it.

At one point the top 4 teams were ranked at 6, 9, 11, and 16 in the AP poll.
