Johnson Central and Franklin-Simpson look safe this week, who could be in trouble? Who could surprise us with a lose? What teams are just outside the Top 10 looking to move in? Who could move out after this week?

Only top 10 game that might be close would be Shelby vs Spencer.

my top 10

1 Franklin Simpson

2. Johnson Central

3. South Warren

4. Hopkinsville

5. Rockcastle

6. Wayne

7. John Hardin

8. Shelby

9. Spencer

10 tie Calloway and Ashland

I would guess the best of the rest IMO would be something with Knox, Collins, East Jess, Mercer....teams that you really don't want to play in the playoffs.

I just don't see how FS isn't #1...They've beaten the #3. Please just move them up so I don't have to torture myself by arguing for them anymore.

Johnson Central beat the #2 team (maybe even #1) in the entire state of West Virginia

I can't say whether JC or FS should be #1 for the simple fact that I haven't seen FS personally.

What I will say is JC isn't the team they were last year. I honestly don't know if I've ever seen a team in 1 offseason develope as much as JC has. Their overall team speed is light years above where it was a year ago. They have put more into having one way players instead of iron man football as well.

I have no doubt FS has a legit claim to #1 and understand why some may see it that way. But if your basing your opinion off of JCs performance against SW in the finals last year, I think your going to be surprised.

How does the east side of 4A playout? I know Johnson Central is the top dog, but who would their tough games be along the way? I assume Wayne and Rock, but do those 2 cancel themselves out or would JC have to play both? Anybody else troublesome for JC?

I think JC breezes through their region

The Semi-Finals will be interesting. Wayne, Rockcastle, Knox Central, East Jessamine, Taylor County, and Mercer County all face each other in a brutal Region. The winner gets to go to Paintsville.

Wayne County is the team that I think would match up best vs. JC. Rockcastle and Knox are going to struggle because JC does what they do only better.

Ashland may have a short stay in the top 10 in my opinion. Greenup County is a top 15 team and it's a road game for Ashland. On top of that, there is essentially a home playoff game on the line for both teams. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Greenup pulls off the upset.

Thanks ATL!

Sounds very favorable for Johnson Central. Much like Pulaski County in 5A.

I would argue that Rockcastle can give Johnson Central a run for there money. We match up well yes as in both are big and physical on the line and both teams are very strong. What rock can do that Knox central can't is we have a very mobile fast resilient QB in chayse. He is the one player that makes our offense tick. He had 120 passing yards and 160 rushing yards against Wayne county. We have a big back in Holdan Barnett that can take the pressure off of chayse having to run all the time plus two talented and quick running backs in dalton rowe and Brent Lovell. We have a really great receiver that will run to the ball and then take it away from defenders in Mikey Tomlinson. Then we top all that off with our excellent run stopping defense. That's why we are 6-1 and in that one loss chayse was not the qb so he is undefeated in his starts. We have all the tools needed to make it to Johnson Central and hopefully in two weeks when we play Knox central we can just go ahead and secure the district without having a three way tie and make everything come thru Rockcastle. You never know what may happen Johnson Central may get upset and all roads may come thru mount Vernon or we could go down in 2nd or 3rd round to one of the teams in our brutal district either way the East side of the playoffs are going to be fun to watch! Be nice to see a Rock vs Johnson Central matchup as I feel we are as capable as anyone at taking on the big dog in the east. Every dog has there day "why not Rock in state"

Go Rock!

The road to BG will not go through Mt Vernon. It doesn't matter if JC is there or not, Region 4 hosts the semi-finals.

So regardless if Johnson Central gets upset by a lower seed and worse win/loss team then the team that upset Johnson Central would still host? I thought in that case it would go back to whoever has the better record and seed would host.

Highest seed always determines home field. If seeds are the same it goes to alternate tie-breakers. If the region 4 winner is a 2 seed or lower and the region 3 winner is a 1 seed, then region 3 would host. This is not usually the case and thus most assume even year, even region/district is the main rule. Its the 2nd tie breaker assuming both teams are 1 seeds.

In other words, its possible not all roads go through region 4. There are scenarios where odd numbered regions could host.
