Bluegrasspreps' Class 4A Rankings - Discussion (10/10)

Highest seed always determines home field. If seeds are the same it goes to alternate tie-breakers. If the region 4 winner is a 2 seed or lower and the region 3 winner is a 1 seed, then region 3 would host. This is not usually the case and thus most assume even year, even region/district is the main rule. Its the 2nd tie breaker assuming both teams are 1 seeds.

In other words, its possible not all roads go through region 4. There are scenarios where odd numbered regions could host.

You are incorrect.

In the rules (http://khsaa.org/handbook/competitionrules/fbcompetitionrules.pdf) it clearly states:

7) For the semi-state round (fourth round), the champion of

region 1 will play the champion of Region 2 while the champion of Region 3 will play the champion of Region 4. The team representing the even-numbered Region shall serve as the host school for the games in even-numbered years, while the team representing the odd-numbered Region shall serve as the host school for the game in odd-numbered years.

No mention is made of seeding at all. In the rules prior to that, it specifically mentions the higher seed hosting.

For example, you can see the 2014 5A playoffs (2

Odd year, Odd Region is the host.

Even year, Even Region is the host

I thought it was the other way to that the higher seed hosted guess I was wrong too. Makes sense to have the higher seee host unless both are tied in seed value then they should use the odd/even year rule guess that's just another example of doing things backwards of what makes sense.

Does it really matter who the top 4 are? they should all play in the semi finals but several will be in the same bracket.

When you get to the semi's those seedings don't mean anything, regardless. All teams remaining are Region Champions, so the best team from that respective area would host depending on the even or odd year in the rotation.

So as I said, JC will be at home thru the semis and they will not be beat at home.
