Bluegrasspreps' Class 5A Rankings - Discussion (10/3)

Featured Replies

I am pretty sure South Oldham's only concern right now is the Bullitt East game on Friday. The rankings are fun to talk about but I bet the coaches and players don't pay a whole lot of attention to it. They are concerned with putting up points and stopping Perdue. And next week they will worry about Bullitt Central. They can only worry about who lines up against them on Friday night. The rest will take care of itself.

You are right. They are concerned with other things. I am neither a coach or a player and I chose to discuss the rankings...in the ranking discussion thread.

Because they got jumped by a team (Owensboro) who had a much better win than they (South Oldham) have had all season

Not exactly College Level Calculus.

If you want to rank solely off win-loss record it turns into the AP Poll where you have Casey County getting a First Place vote.

College level calculus? I'd be offended at the intended slight but I can do college level calculus. :lol2:

It seems that I've offended some people by simply disagreeing with these rankings. It's not personal.

Math was my minor, I'm in the same boat you are.:ylsuper:

Whether it's right or not to look at things that way, that's another debate and I dunno which way I would lean. If the Dragons can take care of the Bullitt County teams they would likely start to impress whoever votes on these things. Either way, I wouldn't think on it too much if I were a Dragon's player, I'd just play with a chip on my shoulder and prove how good they can really be.

That is what I was responding to on the thread. No team should be concerned about the rankings. We have fun with it but I am pretty sure the Dragons are not worried about it.

By the reasoning I am seeing here, CovCath should drop in the rankings after beating Grant Co this week, as Grant will be a weak win.

I think your missing the point. Covington Catholic likely won't be punished for beating Grant County as they have a few solid wins at this point in the season. Again, it's hard to gauge South Oldham at this point as they have played a lackluster schedule.

I don't see anyone being offended. I see a good discussion. If South Oldham beat Christian County, one win that good could propel them as high as #3 in the rankings. South Oldham did not get dropped because they beat the worst team in 5A. They got jumped over by a team (Owensboro) with a win far superior to any win South Oldham has this year.

I've been asking about Dixie for a couple of weeks now. They should crack the top 10 this week, no?

Yes. Madison Southern is right on their heels though. You could almost put the two at 10A and 10B, it's that close. Graves County and Highlands would be on the next tier down. Just like Dixie last week, Graves County has a chance to really open some people's eyes this week as they take on #6 Christian County.

Pulaski got starting QB back this week for the first time since the first half of game 1.

Threw for 3 TDs first game back and frees up backup QB to go out to WR or to the backfield.

Pulaski quietly is sitting right where they were this time last year...these seniors have a real shot at making 4 straight finals.
