October 2, 201610 yr UofL is going to have to make the case for the best 1 loss team to make the playoff now. But they won't be the only team vying for that spot though. We could potentially have 2 other teams with one loss to the eventual champ in their conference and all 3 (including UofL) played close games. So basically Bama/ A&M, Ohio State/ Michigan, and Louisville. Who gets in? Obviously this would imply that Washington has at least one loss and the Big XII champ has at least one loss.
October 2, 201610 yr Way too much football to play to even begin to try and figure this out at this point.
October 2, 201610 yr Author Way too much football to play to even begin to try and figure this out at this point. Obviously, but we have another week before the next slate of games. We need something to talk about.
October 2, 201610 yr Yep, not even going to try at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if Washington ends up the only undefeated team in the country.
October 2, 201610 yr They need Washington to lose and not a "good loss" like Louisville had. I don't think the Big 12 is a factor. I would think the loser of Michigan/OSU at this point will be there man competition. Maybe A&M/Bama. ...and , of course beat Houston.

I don't see Washington picking up 2 losses, so even a one loss Pac 12 champ Washington might get in over Louisville.
October 2, 201610 yr I'm not sure on a neutral field I don't take Louisville over every other team in the country right now. That should be the determination, IMO. As long as Jackson is healthy Louisville is still the team that NO OTHER team wants to play.

As long as Jackson is healthy Louisville is still the team that NO OTHER team wants to play. I think there are 5 or 6 teams that no one wants to play. I don't think Louisvile tops that list though. Their win over FSU looks worse and worse every game. We have no idea how good Clemson is unless you go off of last year which they look nothing like right now. I think Louisville is one of the top 6 teams in the country and then there is a drop off. But I still think they turn the ball over WAY to much, I think their defense showed it can be handled last night, and it looks like a one man show on offense still. Louisville is great, but I don't think people fear them like they do Alabama, Ohio State or even Clemson.

I think Louisville has the ability to move the ball and score on anyone, more so than Alabama, Clemson or Ohio St. Yeah they got beat last night and they turned the ball over (most of those were great plays by Clemson BTW) but this team looks special to me. Alabama has an incredibly hard stretch coming up, at a good Arkansas team at one of the hottest teams in the country Tennessee Home against maybe the best team in the conference right now Texas A&M at LSU, which still has athletes to match up player to player with Alabama I would not be shocked to see Alabama lose at least one of those games, most likely at Tennessee Ohio St has 3 tough games left at Wisconsin in two weeks, can cause fits up front on both sides of the ball...if OSU wins this game I think they win out. then end of the season @ Michigan St (well it could be tough, but they are struggling) Home against Michigan, home advantage will be enough to carry the Bucks in this one. Ohio St could lose one of these, but I don't expect it. Clemson has only a road game at Florida St that could challenge them, but they should walk to the ACC Title game Washington...games at Utah, at Oregon and at Wash St (Rival game) and home against USC...I think one of them gets the huskies and knocks them off...probably Utah maybe Oregon. Louisville has a game at Houston that should be fun to watch, other than that game they cam sleep walk to a 11-1 season. If Tennessee can beat Texas A&M on the road next week, it all sets up for them at home against Alabama the next week...Tennessee could run it out undefeated only to meet Alabama again in Atlanta in the SEC title game.
October 2, 201610 yr Here's their problem, if all the conference champs have no more than one loss they ain't getting in. Doesn't matter if they are the best team in the country.
October 2, 201610 yr If UL beats Houston and Clemson loses to Miami in the ACC title game does UL make the playoffs over Clemson? Does Miami get in assuming they are undefeated with only one good win? If Washington is undefeated are they guaranteed a playoff spot with their butter soft schedule? Ohio State beats Michigan and then loses in the B10 championship game does 1 loss UL make the playoffs then?

Definitely not saying no one else could beat them, but I'll take my chances.

Because they are Alabama or because you actually think Bama is better than UofL. I don't think Bama has been impressive at all since the USC win and yes they deserve to be high in the rankings because they have earned the benefit of the doubt based on past reputation, but definitely not on merit of this season so far. If you could truly do a blind resume so far I think Bama would be behind Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Washington, and probably still Louisville. I'll throw OSU out because I'm obviously a big OSU homer and I would pick them to beat the New England Patriots, but I think I would pick Clemson, Louisville, and Michigan to beat Alabama on a neutral field right now and I am pretty confident in that.
