Who could challenge Johnson Central this year? Who should be number 2, Wayne County or Franklin-Simpson? Who is in the 11-15 range? Who could move out of the Top 10 after this week?

Every team in your top 10 from the west could beat JC this year.

Every team in your top 10 from the west could beat JC this year.

I'll give you that you led off with "could" rather than "would" but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here. JC likely has the best team in school history this year, they have two wins against two of the best teams in WV, regardless of class, and they put a whoopin on Lex Catholic. Like it or not, they may be the best team in class 4A this season.

Franklin Simpson is 100% #2 with wins at 3A #3, at 5A #4 and 4A #4. Wayne can't touch that. JC's 1 win v Capital is likely the best win, but I say collectively it is debatable and I say Franklins total body of work is slightly better.

IMO

1 Franklin Simpson

2 Johnson Central

3 Wayne

4 S. Warren

5 Spencer

6 Hopkinsville

7 Collins

8 John Hardin

9 Shelby

10 Rockcastle

Shelby County lost by 10 to an opponent Rockcastle County beat by 28. On top of that, Rockcastle has another win (Somerset) superior to any Shelby County has and don't have the baggage of a blowout loss to a completely off the radar Bullitt East. I just don't see this argument at all.

I maintain that the top 6 should be JC, FS, Wayne, South, Hoptown, and John Hardin, but Spencer and Shelby aren't totally out of the question. So I can roll with that interpretation. But Shelby? No. That Bullitt East loss is too much without a strong win to back it.

You can flip them if you want. Maybe tie for 9th. Throwing out the Bullitt East game. I just know what went on that night. Shelby has a really nice win over a 5-1 North Bullitt team who will probably finish the year at 8-2. Rockcastle got a nice win at home vs. Garrard while shelbys was the bowl game at Garrard. Rock has a chance to really jump up the board with a home win vs. wayne. A loss will not hurt them as much.

Have seen Spencer. They got some talent and the opening loss to Bardstown is not as bad as it appeared to open the season. They also have 2 nice road wins @ East Jess and @ Collins.

John Hardin is working their way back into the picture and will not lose a game the rest of the year till the playoffs or depending on how the teams approach that game in Christian Co. Should be a good matchup IF everyone plays.

BTW I hate those week 11 matchups where everyone rest players and all that stuff.

Week 11 should be district games that mean something.

Week 11 at Rhea Stadium in Russellville could match 1A #1 and unbeaten Russellville against 4A #2 Franklin Simpson who also could be unbeaten. It will be the 71st meeting between these two.

That one means something.

Will both teams play their A game or rest some banged up kids that would normally play on friday night?

4A vs. 1A shouldn't really "mean something".

That said, I cannot believe I am saying this, but I don't understand how FS is not #1 at this point.

FS beat a SW team who lost somewhere around 19 seniors. Lord know how many injuries and not to mention the one injury during the game that possibly could have costed SW the game. You guys over on the west side of the state and keep drinking the kool-aid!

The fact that it's been going on for 70 years and both teams have had a history of success makes it mean something. Both fan bases love the game and show up no matter the records of either team or the location of the game.

Regarding the ranking...we all know that means relatively nothing. Haven't you heard? We got lucky twice and beat better teams.

You are right. We got lucky....again. But we will take it.

Noticed you edited once for grammar. You might want to try a grammar check website. And there is spellchecker as well.

Both teams will go at it with all they have. Always do.
