September 18, 201610 yr The Cards look like they have a legit shot to make the 4 team playoff and should be a top 5 team this week. You have to admire the spirit and intensity they play with.
September 18, 201610 yr Funniest line I heard yesterday, on the radio: "Somebody call the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The Seminoles are being abused."
September 18, 201610 yr Looks like the Card's have earned a top 5 ranking in the coaches poll. They came in at the number 4 spot. Congrats Cards! On a side note, I feel bad for Marshall, this is not a good year for them to be playing UL.
September 18, 201610 yr I'm stunned the coaches poll jumped them over Michigan. Can't imagine they'll be quite that high in the AP Poll. FWAA Poll took the Cardinals all the way to No. 3 and the Cards got four first-place votes, the only team not named Alabama to get any first place votes at all.

The AP actually bumped them up to #3 with 6 first place votes. 1. Alabama (50) 2. OSU (4) 3. UL (6) 4. Michigan (1) 5. Clemson
September 18, 201610 yr Unless something unusual happens, I don't see how GameDay passes on Death Valley in a couple weeks.

FWAA Poll took the Cardinals all the way to No. 3 and the Cards got four first-place votes, the only team not named Alabama to get any first place votes at all. Michigan hasn't really beaten anyone. I really don't think they are a top 5. Not surprised they were jumped.
September 19, 201610 yr Michigan hasn't really beaten anyone. I really don't think they are a top 5. Not surprised they were jumped. I'm just not accustomed to being in this spot, I suppose. Felt like the natural inertia of the top of the polls would hold that down. Voters clearly as shocked by the completeness of that game against FSU as the rest of us.
September 19, 201610 yr Well that was fun. Nearly 24 hours later and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the consequences. The Louisville-Clemson game is almost certainly going to be a prime time kickoff now and could conceivably be the GameDay game again (really solid possibilities in the B1G and Pac 12 also) assuming neither slips up next week. As for the game, as impressed as I was with Jackson and the offense, it was the defense that stole the show for me. They were everywhere. Two years ago this game was Dalvin Cook's coming out party,; this year the defense aided in Lamar Jackson's coming out party by absolutely smothering Cook. Special teams was in on it too. Setting aside Alexander's return TD, the coverage teams were outstanding. Despite Louisville's kicker dropping knockoffs well short of the goal line, it never seemed like FSU could get much going on returns. They covered extremely well. It was the most complete all-around game I've ever seen a Louisville Cardinals football team play. Just awesome. Didn't get a chance to watch the game closely because of work, but when I sat down to look at the recap I had to roll my jaw up off the floor when I saw Cook's stat line after the way he killed us last year.
