Russell losing dlineman Seth Deborde to a knee injury hurt. Ashland wasn't moving the ball very well until he left but when he left they seemed to move it better.

Congrats to Ashland on the win, glad to see you pull it out.

I was a little surprised by this one.

Congrats to the Tomcats. Ratliff was clutch on the game winning drive. Especially the throw to Dowdy. Maybe tonight was the spark they needed to get their season on track.

 

There's no sugar coating it... Russell's offense is bad. The line play isn't very good. There's no continuity. Turnovers. Penalties. It's just hard to watch right now. The lack of offense was bound to catch up with them sooner or later.

 

The Devils just have to pick themselves up and go back to work to get ready for Boyd County.

Agreed Russell needs to put this loss past them and get ready for a pretty good Boyd County team.

The most action I saw at the game was at halftime, as a fight broke out in the entry way.

There is a reason both teams have a high point total of 13 for a game this season. Bad offense. This was a big win, though, for Ashland to give them a shot at a decent season. In my opinion, a loss here would have cleared a lot of room for questions about the coaching and the handling of the QB situation. Russell will be fine going into district play because they play with a lot of effort.
