Is it time for blacks to stop discussing racism?

Featured Replies

I think his underlying point of the article is that the discussion is pointless to have, because white people (in general) aren't truly interested in having the discussion. That it's pointless to have a discussion when the other party isn't really interested in anything you've got to say.

While I don't completely agree with that assessment, I think there's a lot of truth in it, especially in certain areas of the country.

I haven't read the article yet, so I don't have an opinion on it at this time.

I simply found it comical that literally one minute after his post, you did exactly what everyone knew you'd do, regardless of the content of the article; dismiss it.

1. He didn't dismiss the article, he pointed out a couple of issues he had with part of it.

2. How can you laugh or call him out if hadn't read it yourself?

But if makes you guys feel better about your discussion. I will stop from commenting. You can agree with each other. Perfect form of discussion.

I'll take my cue from the author.

This will be my last post directed at you in regards to these topics...

It's not about you disagreeing. It's not about you having a different perspective. It's not necessarily about you picking out "inaccuracies" in stories. With virtually every story that is posted, you REFUSE to discuss the actual issues, and you focus on trying to discredit the source or information. If your "he had a good point about BLM" was an attempt to say "See, I don't dismiss everything," it was a terrible attempt.

You are a perfect example of someone you can't have a discussion with because of your focus on "the little things." You have made it clear that you will not move past anything in an article that you don't believe is true or isn't exactly right down to the decimal, so unless someone posts something you write or you look up, you're not going to focus your attention on where it should, IMO, be.

If you put 1/4 the effort into discussing the real issues as you do trying to discredit everything posted, I honestly feel like we could have made some progress in some of these threads. But, here we are.

It was pretty clear I was laughing about the irony of Deuce's post and his right after it...

I would like to see the racism point from a black persons eyes.

I would also like for a black person to see my view of racism through my eyes.

Its going to be very different in a sense. I know there is racism on both sides but to what extent is it that I dont see or cant see I dont know.

I mean I dont hate someone because of their skin color. This aint 1800, its 2016. Shouldnt we be done with the skin color thing.

I still think the media is and has fueled the flames of racial problems.

Until you know someone how can you dislike them or think something bad about them.

Stop the presses! :lol2: I actually agree with almost everything you've said here.

I also think if it were possible for us to see things from the others perspective, both sides would probably have a different outlook on things. Unfortunately, that's something that I don't think is really possible.

Some things I just can not agree whole hardheartedly with is BLM. Do Black Lives Matter, sure they do, and I get how and why it started.

BUT

The way it goes about bashing cops and white entitlement, slavery reperations.

I just can go with that.

Heck I have never just had something given to me because Im white, I have family that is cops, and I nor all the way down to my 4th Great Grandpa never owned a slave. Its jsut something I dont get or agree with. And the people wanting reparations family of slaves has to go back to how far down the family tree. Probably as far as mine.

Also the misconception white have on blacks has to stop. For instance if a riot breaks out then some will say all they wanted to do was go steal anyway and loot. Those blacks who do that are no different than the white cops who make every other cop look bad. Its not like all white cops do that just as its like not all blacks go loot and steal.

Not every black person is a drug dealer just like every white person isnt either.

One HUGE PROBLEM is the inner city kids. They are stuck with nothing and until we address that it wont get better. Thats on the politicians too, Reps and Dems, but mostly the bigger problems is the Dem controlled areas like Chicago and Baltimore.

They got to get that problem fixed and it stops a lot of unwanted pregnancy, drugs, and drive bys.

I'm a detail oriented person. It's who I am. Even the minor details matter to me in every facet of life. If you look at me on this board regardless of the topic I'm pretty consistent.

In 3 different topics in less than two weeks I said if you wanted to just discuss the issues start a thread on that.

But when you start a topic on Kapernick, other players and now ignoring white people ( I know you didn't start it) you are asking me to comment on something besides just the issues.

Saying "we" should ignore white people is a side show. We all know that in our core. If someone truly believes white people have all the power then how is ignoring them going to solve anything. It was a bad idea and I should say so.

It does not mean I do not get their is racism. Obviously I do. Where we may disagree on just how large the institutionalized version of racism is today. But that is a topic I love to discuss.

I've asked let's start a thread and discuss what issues you personally have and what solutions you want. I may or may not agree

But don't post a side show topic and think I'm not going to comment on the side show.

Who do you guys think in todays society are the most racist? Whites or Blacks? The reason I bring this up is one of my black friends told me back in the summer that Blacks are far more racist in todays society than Whites are. Said that at this point in history that there by law is nothing that Blacks cant do that Whites can. Same laws for all.

I will agree that alot of Whites dismiss the discussion for the reason they think why are we still talking about this?

Do I think there are White Racists? Yes seen it first hand. Do I think there are Black Racists? Yes seen it first hand.

There are absolutely racist black people. Lots of them.

If you're not talking about pure numbers, not sure how you measure who is more racist.

True for homosexuals , Muslims, and homosexual Muslims too, I hope.

I get what he's saying about the frustration but I've never found any situation where stopping the conversation was beneficial, at least in the long term.
