September 5, 201610 yr The turning point for me on Notre Dame football is when they got the TV deal from NBC back in 1991. When they became the only college team with a deal like that to be on TV every Saturday, that sealed the deal on the Notre Dame media hype going over the top and Notre Dame getting an unfair advantage from the media. I get that. I know a lot of people that feel the same way. That may be what rubs most people wrong about ND. Again, I think it's all about the almighty dollar. NBS saw $ because they know if ND goes 12-0 or 0-12, Irish fans are going to tune in.

And just two years later, what an advantage to have the media (AP) to vote for Florida State over Notre Dame for the championship even though the Irish beat them. :lol2:
September 5, 201610 yr It's almost like not playing him for 1/4 of the game might have hurt them. It likely did.

We all knew how the system worked back then. This is like when people say Laettner should have been thrown out the game for love tapping Aminu Timberlake's chest. Well you know, had Richie Farmer made both of those technical free throw shots then Laettner probably would have never been able to take The Shot. Hindisght is better served at 20/20 not 20/60.

I get why it happened, but if the Irish really had a media advantage they would have had no reason not to go with the team that won head to head. Norte Dames advantage is more due to the money they generate. Might as well say they had a BCS committee advantage. All things equal the Irish were getting the nod. I'd argue that some media members are actually biased against Notre Dame. Maybe their overrated, but at least the had the you know what to go into Austin to open up the season. Would be easy to stay undefeated and highly ranked by choosing a directional school to start the season. I put this loss on Kelly. Keizer was amazing last season, and Zaire in his limited time playing in his career really showed nothing to suggest he deserved equal time. It was abundantly obvious last night which QB could get it done.

September 5, 201610 yr ACC says the officials said it was "most likely" targeting on the hit in Hunter.
September 5, 201610 yr ACC says the officials said it was "most likely" targeting on the hit in Hunter. Is that like "more probably than not" it may have happened. I would like to know more about the rule they can call targeting from the booth. Do they buzz down and say we are going to look at it or do they watch it real quick and say I didn't see anything before the next play starts. Does it have to be challenged?
September 5, 201610 yr ACC says the officials said it was "most likely" targeting on the hit in Hunter. I say it definitely was. :lol2: I can't understand how they couldn't call that targeting. But hey, that's all part of the game.
September 5, 201610 yr Texas got a commit today from a 4* DE from Texas. Big night for recruiting for the Horns.
September 6, 201610 yr Big win for Strong, I've always really liked him so happy to see (even if it is against my team). I agree with those on here regarding Kizer.. Not playing him 5-6 series hurt the Irish. He's a star.
September 6, 201610 yr This game was fun to watch. Texas may not win the Big12 but imo if they don't then they will decide who does.
