I'm still unsure what the schools can divulge. Plato makes it clear that they are very limited in what they are allowed to report. In addition, although I assume the police are relaying information to the school as they get it, should the school make more statements before the police finish their investigation? Shouldn't statements at this point come from the police?

Then I have a feeling you're going to have several situations that you aren't going to be satisfied with. May need to home school, to be honest. You're rarely going to get that kind of clarity from a school.

IMO, yes they handle issues much better the majority of the time. Of course, I'll also admit I'm very biased, but that's a topic for a completely different thread.

I think it's silly to assume the school automatically knows the motive. For all we know, only one person knows the motive and he's under no obligation to divulge it.

Your want/need to know is not their concern. If you have a child in the school district, you can certainly call and ask for more information. If you don't, you can call, but I'm sure you'll be referred to the police department for any additional information.

As a former Police Officer that has investigated similar incidents and as a parent in the same school system I can tell you unequivocally I was rarely satisfied with the information that was made public.

While you may have been rarely satisfied, again your want/needs from outside the school district are not their concern and do not override their requirements on handling things of this nature.

 

Police are privy to a lot of information that never makes it to the public. Until there is transparency there, why would/should it be required of a school district?
