August 29, 201610 yr They won't cut Tate. I really wish they would but for some reason Marvin really likes him.
August 29, 201610 yr So I woke up this morning to hear the Bengals actually lost that game lol. I know the first 2 qtrs is really what mattered, but losing that game doesn't say much about the depth of this team if you ask me. We may have depth, but it doesn't sound like the depth is that impressive when it comes to how they play. Defense sounded like they couldn't stop anything in the 2nd half. Here is what I took away from the game. Our young Tackle is a beast. Brandon Tate needs to fade away into retirement and Erickson needs to take over as punt returner. If Tate makes the team this year he will be the drum I beat until I'm blue in the face. He needs to go and go now! Dalton looked really good and has that confidence he showed last year. Yes and no on the depth. I watched all game. Most of the second half after the initial first Drive the offense had people and lineman in who aren't even going to make the team. Same on defense a lot of the defense that gave up consecutive scores in the 2nd half was a bunch of guys who won't make the team. So can't really judge depth on guys who won't make the team. During the regular season they only have 53 guys not the 90 they have now. The guys most likely to make it played well. However the obvious depth concerns at wr and corner are still there because a bunch of question marks not knowing how young guys will do. So I wouldn't worry to much about the second half because most of the Jags comeback came against guys not making the team.
August 29, 201610 yr ..and right now the Jags are nothing more than a nice collection of players. I was surprised and a little impressed at what Bortles said when he was interviewed after coming out of the game. Said pretty much that they played bad at every position. Used to hearing the much more PC answer of "well, we had some bright spots here and there. Now we just have to learn to be more consistent. Blah, blah, blah." As far as the Bengals are concerned, I liked what I saw from the first teamers. Would've liked to see LaFell get a few more thrown to him, but I'd much rather Andy take what's given to him rather than force it to one player. Losing Peerman to injuy sucks. But, I liked what I saw from Erickson. And to the game score...forget about it. Bengals dominated with their starters. Jags won with/against guys who won't likely be playing for either squad in a couple of weeks.
August 29, 201610 yr I think the Bengals look pretty good but I am still concerned with DT. I know some of you want Tate gone, I would rather see Peko gone. He is good for about ten plays then he gets pushed around. Billings getting hurt really stinks. Dansby looks like he can play. Overall I am a little concerned with the defense. The offense looked good but more because we outcoached the Jags vs. getting guys that needed looks looks. I am a closet Jags fan but I thought you guys looked pretty terrible last night when it counted.
August 29, 201610 yr Author ..and right now the Jags are nothing more than a nice collection of players. Correct. This is the first time in about 5 years the team actually has talent to compete but if they cant figure out how to actually make it all work it'll be a 6-10 year and probably the end of Gus Bradley. If this happens it just pushes the ability to compete even farther back.

Playing a very very good opponent on national tv. Most of us were hoping for a much better showing and they came out flat. It was a real wake up call that there is still a good distance to go.

I feel the same way about Nugent, great guy but it's crazy how they don't even seem to try to replace either one. As for the defense I liked how they looked and just like last year the defense only gets better once Burfict is back. He bring so much to that defense, and is so smart in terms of schemes and knowing to get into and where to go.
