First airplane

Featured Replies

Can we talk about the fact Brazil pushed the fact that they invented the airplane over and over during the Olympics. Even when all evidence points to that not being true.

The can have the first airplane

North Korea can be the most powerful nation.

Russia is vastly superior to the United States in every way

They can say it until they're blue in the face. I'll smile and say okay.

It's just funny the Wright brothers were doing 40 minute flights by 1905 . This guy from Brazil had like a 30 second flight in 1906.

Kinda like Kentucky and Illinois both claiming Lincoln :D

And lets not forget Nebraska...oh wait...

Somehow I missed that. That's absolutely hilarious though.

I liken it more to Murray, KY claiming Nathan B. Stubblefield invented the radio, not Guglielmo Marconi.

It was a big spot in their opening ceremonies.

The cheeseburger was (not) invented in Louisville too, apparently. Pretty much everyone dates the cheeseburger back to 1926 at a restaurant in California....but there's a restaurant in Louisville called Kaelin's - which is currently not operating - that claims they invented it in 1934.

Ahhh, that'd be why I missed it. I haven't watched any Olympic opening or closing ceremonies in probably 20 years now.

I only wacthed the opening ceremonies and maybe a few minutes here and there of the actual games. Which is odd as usually I am glued to the tv watching the Olympics, but I was disappointed that most of the soccer was shown only online.

But, I did see in the opening ceremonies when they first mentioned it and rolled out that airplane prop. As I thought then, almost the rest of the world say that it was the Wright brothers, they mentioned that Brazil says that their guy had witnesses. It still isn't good enough for me.

But I find it odd when you all says that they kept mentioning it, I'm sure Brazil has tons of other good and great things going for them. You would think with all of the political issues they have, all of the political bribery stuff going on, with all of the money that they took from public workers such as the police and many others, that Brazil would have used the time to capitalize on all things that are good and great in that country, it would have been 16 days of non-stop advertisement for Brazil. It sounds like they dropped the ball big time.

Literally all evidence points against them. Their argument is mind blowing. I read one report where Brazilians are taught in school that the Wright brothers are pure propaganda.

.....hell, even Marconi is a fraud, the honor belongs to Nikola Tesla.
