When do they play next? I like to see him play. And again congrats to his family and school. Is he on scholarship now, I know a lot of kickers have to walk on, but I hope they put him on one. There are people on scholarship that never see the field and this kid starts, give him a ride:madman:

Ohio State playes Bowling Green this saturday in "the shoe". Aaron was origianlly was signed on what is called a "gray shirt" feshman at OSU. They had offered him a scholly that had belonged to another player that they thought was not going to return. The player did and by law they had to honor it and pull Aarons scholly at that time. Aaron is now on Scholly I believe.

I think the gray shirt is great, help the player get more work in and deveolp into a better play. Have a question did he sign a letter of intent before he was grayshirted?? Or they said "you walk on and we have your scholly after this guy leaves." Just wondering about this grayshirt thing. I think it's great, but don't know much about it.

Aaron was ofered a scholarship for the next season, but there was a player that was injured the previous year & word was he would not return.That player went through re-hab and was able to overcome his injury and filed for reinstatement to play again. The NCAA allowed that player to have a medical redshirt so OSU had to honor his scholly & that decision left Aaron without one for that year. He & OSU agree to walk on last season as a Redshirt. He has now obtained a full scholarship for this season and the rest of his NCAA career.

Yup that sound's correct to me. Thanks for the input. That's what I heard as well. Grayshirting is becoming very popular now, Everybody knows about redshirt but not many people know about the gray. I for one think it's great.

And when a new coach comes in to a college, they SOMETIMES do this, the current players are not his recuits and wants to offer a H.S player his scholly. It does not get much press but I think it's a shame this happens (unless the kid does not even try to get better) Then the kid has no money to finish his education and to top that off has to transfer and then may have to sit out a year. The kid commited to the school for 4-5-6 years and then the college says see ya!! At least let him transfer with out the rules applying to them (I also think walkon's should be exempt from the rules they never signed a paper commiting to the college)

After the year is complete it is the coaches decision to keep the athlete under scholarship or release him from it. Once the LOI is signed all other school must stop their recruiting of that player.The only guarantee is the one year of paid academics for the student.

I agree with his decision. He saw the opportunity for the future and will play for 4 years. Great desision by him and sounds like things are going GREAT, good for him.

Aaron Pettry went 5/5 on p.a.t.'s in the Buckeyes 35-7 win over Bowling Green Saturday. Aaron did not have a fg attempt, OSU had the chance to kick one late and Coach Tressel elected not to kick and just run the 4th down play not running up the score. Aaron had one k/o that went to the goal line and was returned for a short return around the 15 or 20. I believe that this makes Pettry 26/26 on p.a.t.'s this season and still on track for the perfect p.a.t. season and maybe and OSU record for p.a.t.'s.:flame: :flame: GO BUCKS!!! and GO Aaron!!!!!:banana: :banana:

Aaron had another very good game today in a 38-7 Ohio St. victory over Mich. st.. Aaron went 5/5 on p.a.t.'s and hit his only FG attempt of 32yds. This now makes Pettry a perfect 31/31 on p.a.t.'s for the season.:thumb: :thumb:

Arron Pettry today vs. IU was 6/7 on his p.a.t.'s - he missed his p.a.t. of the year and I believe is now 37/38. Aaron hit a FG of 52yds.! It was his only attempt. Aaron also had 6 k/o's, 2 out into and out of the endzone for touchbacks. With a 50+ yd. fg Aaron may have his stroke working on the fg's now like everyone knows that he can. Great job today by Pettry!!:flame:
