Tracking Aaron Pettrey

Featured Replies

Aaron Pettrey kicked the game winner in Ohio State's kicking scrimmage today and appears to be the front runner to start for OSU. His kickoffs consistently go out of the end zone and his FGs are dead on even from long distances. Congrats to the former Raceland Ram. :dancingpa

Thanks for the update. I talked with his father a few days ago and all was going well. Aaron is a great kid from a great family. I wish him nothing but the best.:thumb: He has been in a heated battle with the other kicker so maybe this will seal the deal for the opener.:dancingpa

This is great to hear.  Aaron was an incredible athlete at Raceland in all sports. He is a good kid with what I think the talent to one day possibly kick in the NFL. Anyone that can put a football from the kickoff in the stands at Neyland stadium has a leg! Aaron I am pretty sure turned down offers from other schools to play football and baseball to play for J. Tressel and THE Ohio State University. Hopefully he can win the Buckeye starting job in either the kickoff, fg's or both.:thumb: I still remeber one of his kicks when Raceland played at Paintsville that he put across that alley/street and on top of what I think was the Kroger bldg.. We heard people laughing and wondering who was going to get the ball, one Paintsville fan said..."I don't know, no one has ever kicked one that far here".

Hope he makes it big. :thumb:

WSAZ news had him on today during his Media Day interview. Aaron said he knew he could play when he chose to go to the Buckeyes and there was a lot of pressure on him but he thought he was doing well. It showe one his signature kickoff's sailing into the endzone.

Good Luck (Pete).

Just an update, during the kicking scrimmage he made 11 of 12 and the one he missed was wiped out by an holding penalty. The other kid(27 yr old):D only hit half of his kicks during the scrimmage. Every media outlet in Central Ohio is talking about Pettrey and I even read a nice article on him in the Dayton newspaper yesterday.

I am a biased but his talent is unbelieveable. He has unlimited potential and with his attitude and work ethic his future looks very bright. Aaron is a super young man with a great family background so he deserve the best. Some of the big name schools lost a gem when they did not sign him and this has made him more hungry to succeed. Great story in the making.

Yeah and to think that all R. Brooks offered him was "a chance to walk on" You are also 100% correct on Aarons drive to sucseed, he deserves all the praise he is getting and then some. Great person, great family - it is good to see good things happen to good people.:thumb:

Congrats to Aaron Pettrey. The Buckeye web-site has him listed as the starting PK in the Buckeye opener on Saturday!!!:thumb: This is great news. Aaron has worked very hard and has been extremely patient to get this opportunity. Great story for a great young man and I am sure his family is proud. I know we here at Raceland are very proud!!:dancingpa
