EKC Grid-O-Rama

Featured Replies

High School Football time in Kentucky.. should be a state holiday !!............

Looking forward to Saturday nights Grid-O-Rama and hearing everyone's take on the teams. I'm not sure if it will be broadcast on radio or not, seeing how it's really a preview of EKC teams W/ shortened scrimmages. Even at that, I am sure these kids on all teams are looking forward to hitting someone with a different jersey after beating up on each other in the Spring and now Summer/pre season camps.

I hope / pray that all players on all teams stay injury free this season and as always ....it's a great day to be a RAM !

(should anyone know if these games will be on radio broadcast, please post. Thanks in advance)

Headi g to Raceland in a few for the morning game. Talk last night tells me the first game should be a close.

Updates will come soon. Cant find rosters here at Raceland so game report/article on Sunday will have numbers only. Pucs from all games on Sunday too.

I believe Cats Pause has Nicholas County winning their district over Bracken and Paris, so this score is a shock. Is this another case of Nicholas having the players in sports like football, basketball and baseball and not having the coaching or what is going on in Carlisle?

Lewis Carter 7 East Carter 7. Lewis County. 11 plays 73 yards 62 on one play. Passing 0-2.East Carter 37 plays 125 yards passing 1-7. 21 is a hard nose runner for East.

Don't think there is a reflection on the coaching. I don't want these to sound like excuses so I was skeptical about even responding... With Richardson and Dailey not in the backfield I don't think the O-line was as motivated as they should be. On paper NC looks very experienced however they've got a sophomore QB with close to 0 varsity experience as well as 2 linebackers, sophomore/junior, with 0 varsity experience. I think my BlueJackets will come around just possibly a slow start. Sites like this telling kids how good they are when they have never had much success can lead to some "entitlement" issues as well!

As far as the coaching, Coaches Hop, Botner, and Sims do a great job with what's walking the halls at NCHS in male sports. They don't play a cupcake schedule, not the hardest schedule either, but usually beat the teams they should. I know each sport could really down there schedule which would lead to more wins but this would also hurt their chances in the post season!!!

I know they have good players there, was disappointed in the basketball teams performance last year and after reading the pick of their football team as Number 1, (albeit in a weaker district with Brossart and Paris down this year), was upbeat until seeing this score from this scrimmage. Is Bracken County, by far now, the elite of that district, with Nicholas falling into the bottom half or is Fleming County that good?

15 -15 Lewis scores with 4 sec left and gets the two point conversion to tie it. Score not reset to start running clock.

KHSAA Should have rosters & info up on their website.

First off, hats off to east carter. They have been coached well and will most certainly have more success this year. They brought it to us the entire game.

About Nicholas county. 90% of their offensive production didn't even have pads on. Richardson is a game changer and no one should sleep on the blue jackets. Coach Hop always seems like he's so mad at his players, but you can ask them and they'll tell you how much they love him. He has high expectations...which leads to them always giving 100% when it matters. Fleming is a good team, but it would have been a closer score if Richardson and Dailey would have played.

For us, we have a lot of work to do. Saw some good things from our players. I love the fight we had. To comeback on a much improved Raider team is something we can build on.

East & Lewis looked much improved from last year! That's a testament to both coaches & players. Lewis seemed to be very vanilla on offense not showing their playbook or have gone to a new offense that is run heavy. East only threw a handful of passes but the backs ran hard & with a purpose. Both teams should see better results then last year. Good luck to both teams. Prayers for both players injured in the game!

I didn't get to see the game this morning but will hopefully catch some of the games tonight.

My thoughts from yesterday:

From the Fleming vs Nicholas game:

Score could have been much worse if Fleming County would have wanted it to be. It was obvious Nicholas couldn't cover the deep ball. Fleming could have thrown it deep every play and ran away with it. I guess Fleming was working on their run game some and intermediate passing and rightfully so. They also played several kids.

I agree with ATRM in that if Nicholas County backs don't have a hole it doesn't matter who the backs are. I thought their line was going to be their strong point, but left not really impressed.

I do think Nicholas will improve as the season goes along, they always do. This was about the same as last year's result from this scrimmage.

From the Greenup vs West Carter game:

I thought both defenses played really well. I expected Greenup to have a good defense based on what they had returning but was suprised at how well West Carter played. They replace alot from last year. The Kouns kid from West is a stud. They gave up some yards at times but always tightened up in the red zone.

Both offenses seemed a little out of sync to me. West replaces a lot in Braden and Walker. They were studs. It might take a little bit, but I think they will be fine.

Greenup might be going through some growing pains with a new system. I thought it looked like they had the pieces to be good and I think they will be fine in the long run.

Thanks for the updates ncf looking forward to your updates on the Russell-Rowan game.

Having dinner then heading there. Will do updates at half and end of games. Hopefully one of the two are close.

Update from Rowan/Russell:

Russell is shaky. Conley is being himself but the rest of the team is out if sync. Several false start penalties.

Rowan Co looks ok but Russell is making look better. Very surprised so far.
