Science Friction Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Joe Scarborough predicts Donald Trump will not win the presidency this November in commentary he gave on Tuesday's broadcast of Morning Joe on MSNBC. SCARBOROUGH: People say, 'Well, if you don't support Donald Trump, then Republicans aren't going to win the presidency.' Well, Republicans aren't going to win the presidency. At this point for me, and I'm being a selfish Republican, for me it's about saving the Senate, it's about not getting wiped out in the House, it's about not getting wiped out in the state legislatures, it's about not getting wiped out in governorships. We dominate the governorships. We dominate the state legislatures. We dominate the Senate. We dominate the U.S. House. We have a lot to lose. And standing behind a guy that eviscerates a Gold Star mother and a grieving father that is not a guy who is going to lead you to victory. [senator] Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) needs to distance herself from this guy now. [senator] Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) needs to distance himself from this guy now. They would be shocked what would happen if people would show a little courage. Scarborough also made a claim that Donald Trump intentionally wants to lose. Scarborough said Donald Trump does not want to win, "because that means he'll have to go do a lot of things he just doesn't want to do." Science Friction Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 What I found interesting is that Joe said he talked with someone CLOSE to Trump this past weekend and was told that Trump really doesn't want to win because that would mean he would have to govern, and that's not really what he wants to do. Joe said that he was told by this person that the ideal scenario for Trump would be that he loses by one half of a percentage point and then be able to claim that the election was rigged in Hillary's favor. That way he can lose and still be able to claim for the rest of his life that he actually won but was cheated. Very plausible.
B-Ball-fan Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I can buy this. I've had a hunch all along that for him it hasn't been so much really wanting to be the president as much as it has been for the attention, and his own satisfaction of seeing just how far he could take it. A pet project of sorts, and if true quite possibly the world's most highest ever reach all just for kicks.
StickerMann Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I've actually had this discussion frequently with friends and associates over the last few months; not from some conspiracy perspective, but rather from a theory that he only got in to make a point & somehow started winning? Please forgive me if I don't by into anyone from MSNBC pretending to care about a Republican cause--Kinda like ABC acting like Stephanopolis is "neutral"?

Doesn't matter what channel he's on. Good grief.
TexasRanger Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Scarborough is as GOP as it gets. Doesn't matter what channel he's on. Good grief. ???? Have you watched this show much?? It's 24/7 anti Trump, just saying.
mcpapa Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Anti-Trump and being a dyed-in-the-wool Republican often mean the same thing these days.
Bluegrasscard Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Maybe the compromising aspect hit hard before convention. There were quick reports that Pence was not the Don's top pick for VP. Pence as the party choice to balance Trumps mainly non-conservative social views. At the end he will have to back off or make deals on a lot of things - auditing the fed (that will never happen), building a wall, etc. Once you start to make the deals they own you. Maybe only a little at first, but Pence seemed to be the first major deal. And more will be needed. [video=youtube;A-sA-NqMlvI]
NKY Bandit Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I still think it was a ploy by Bill and Hill to ensure that HRC would win. They were scared to death of the early frontrunners and needed a distraction. Turns out some people actually believed what Trump was saying and voted for him.

Habib Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 If he were trying to throw the election I'm not sure what he could do much differently right now. The whole Trump campaign has been such a conundrum. I've all but given up trying to make sense of it.
mcpapa Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 ^ Like many, I think it has been one giant ego trip. How anyone can seriously consider the guy for the White House boggles the mind.
lawildcat Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 ^ Like many, I think it has been one giant ego trip. How anyone can seriously consider the guy for the White House boggles the mind. I say the same thing about Hillary every day. It's gonna be a long 4 years either way. :arghh:
MayfieldFan Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 ^ Like many, I think it has been one giant ego trip. How anyone can seriously consider the guy for the White House boggles the mind. Here is my theory. Republican party for years has worked up its base by pandering to fear, racial prejudice...etc etc. This has resulted in, predictably, a base that responds to such things. In the R primary, Trump got hold of that base and nothing could cause him to lose it. They don't respond to reason, logic etc...they respond to fear and hatred of "the other." That's why his percentage was so locked in. Could not climb above, can't lose them. The other guys made every wrong decision and Trump slowly begins to do even better, as it gets down to the two most offensive candidates. Finally Trump gets a bit of a bump as the R party gets behind him, sort of. Now he is going back down, as the sane members of the R party come to the inevitable conclusion that he is a danger to the future survival of humanity. But he won't ever drop that base. The base of white middle aged men. The haters lol. Those are his no matter what. He can insult POWs, war heroes, babies, women, handicapped people, african americans, native americans, immigrants, mexicans, gay people, victims of sexual harassment. There is no amount of vulgarity that will cause his base to desert him because his base shares all of these ideas. They like it when picks on other people. Good news is it all will all be over soon. HRC will be president and the R party will be destroyed. That crazy hateful base? This is the last time anyone ever cares about them, or listens to them. They are going out in a blaze of orange-skinned glory and will only be a sad footnote in our history books. We have a clear choice and the country is gonna make the right choice, by convincing margins.
