Khsaa has PC at 5000. I thought it was bigger too.

Not sure where this number came from but this is the number I've always heard for Pulaski.

 

I know for big games they have the option of adding bleachers to the east lobby overlooking the court...not sure if that is in consideration or not.

I'd assume the school reported the size to the KHSAA. Not sure how else they'd gather that info.

That is quite a difference. 2000 seats. I knew I had read PC was the biggest somewhere.

I've seen the official top 20 list somewhere before and no Kentucky school was listed. Wikipedia is not always a reliable source as anyone can post on there. I would go with the KHSAA number since that is what the school acutally submits.

The notes on the link say they got the info from the KHSAA, but who knows. It still a really big gym and I'd be shocked if many if any at all in the state are larger.

 

The self reporting to the KHSAA can't always be trusted either as school will sometimes inflate capacity numbers for ego sake.

I've been in Pulaski's gym, albeit years ago. Unless they've somehow added a bunch of seats since then, there's no way it seats close to 7,000. Maybe 4,500. I don't think it's as big as Knott Central's gym, which seats 5,000.

I know Mason used to hold more but they changed the bleachers in the lower section and lowered the seating capacity.

That sounds more like it. There's not a high school gym in Kentucky that seats 7,000, nor 6,000 for that matter, to my knowledge. I always assumed Marshall County had the biggest high school gym in the state.

10th Region Class A Gyms:

 

Saint Patrick- 450

Silver Grove- 450

Augusta- 500

Calvary Christian- 700

Bishop Brossart- 750

Paris- 2000

Nicholas County- 2500

Robertson County (On KHSAA website only has 1, not sure why)

 

These all according to KHSAA, I would assume these are just approximate. I've seen way more than 2000 in the Igloo (2005 District Tournament)

That sounds more like it. There's not a high school gym in Kentucky that seats 7,000, nor 6,000 for that matter, to my knowledge. I always assumed Marshall County had the biggest high school gym in the state.

 

Looking at photos of Marshall County gym I don't see it seatin any more than Pulaski's gym. Those chairbacks on one side limits the lower bowl on that side to around 470...that's nearly a fourth of the seating area taken up by less than 500 seats.

 

Maybe it holds more than it looks like, but comparing photos of the two it looks to hold less than Pulaski.

 

That said. MC gym is much nicer than PC gym.

Marshall and Graves in the 1st region both hold over 5000
