With all the transfers that Boone gets why haven't they won a state championship? With a great coach and a transfer or two every year it seems as though they should win it . I know some of the girls who have transferred to Boone and it is almost always because of someones job. I guess it is better to be 10 minutes closer to your work. If they ever seperate the public and private schools which side will Boone be on?

Just be real, no one moves residence for a local job. It is high school ball so let the best team win. People do what is best for their daughter and it is what it is.

Very true but don't you think this is starting to get way out of hand. Nevermind what kind of education little Bobby or Susie will be getting as long as they are going to a school with a good athletic record and of course my little darling must get to play alot..Otherwise I'll just make up another reason to transfer again. It may happen all over the country but that doesn't make it right. Something has got to change IMO..

Parents are chasing that "college scholly" opportunity and are afraid Susie or Bobby aren't going to get that look if they are on a 10-18 team versus all those offers that will be rolling in when they play on a 24-4 team that reaches the Sweet Sixteen. So why not bolt if there are few if any consequences?

There is no August 1st rule...Family must establish residency within the school district prior to enrolling...As long as they did that, she will be eligible...

First of all, if anyone transfers from any ninth region school to another and the parents say it is for job purposes, they may as well look you in the face and say "I think you're a moron,". Every school in the region is less and a half hour apart.

 

Secondly, Boone does seem to get a lot of transfers, even after they've started playing high school ball, never mind the ones they get entering high school. I'm guessing not many people pay attention, or their would surely have been some grumblings before now.

 

Lastly, and I don't want to get on a soap box, but the KHSAA just went to six classes for football to ease some of the public/private debate. So they created more champions in the one sport, that public schools have won plenty over the years. In the meantime, girls sports are being absolutely DOMINATED by private schools, yet no one seems to care. Just saw the girls soccer poll (a one class sport FWI), five of the top six teams in the state are private. It'll be the same in volleyball, again, etc. etc.

:confused: I keep being told by many that it really doesn't matter where you play High School any longer. College Recruiters don't come to many high school games anymore these days unless it is more of a photo opportunity and some good pub. for the coach and his school. Most recruiters to my understanding are beating the paths on the AAU circuit so your 10-18 as opposed to 24-4 theory doesn't carry alot of weight IMO. Good players are found these days..Just no loyalty to anything anymore by parents with their kids. We will just keep moving you around until we find the place thats does things athletically as mommy/daddy wants and oh by the way if you happen to get a decent education out of it well thats all the better. IMO loyalty is a very honorable attribute that isn't being taught by parents to their kids much these days.. Just my opinion. One of which many disagree I'm sure of..

:thumb: Don't get me started on the KHSAA..A lot of the problems that come up in KY sports could be alleviated if the KHSAA would simply enforce the rules that they currently have on the books. Unfortunately as we all know it is just a do nothing good old boy organization that needs to be disbanded and a new governing body needs to be put into place.

Equus...you named 6 transfers over the past 10yrs. NDA had at least 5 transfers on their bench last season so why are they not getting blasted. I'm sure HC has had more transfers also. I'm also pretty sure that Highlands has had more if you include the 3 transfers coming this year. Sounds like people on here pick and choose who to attack.

 

Each one of you may know the family so I may be wrong, but I see one post near the top that reads "I heard the Family moved because of a new job in Florence". No one confirmed it as far as I can see, but everyone jumped all over this and ran with it as if it were fact.

 

CoachK...Even though you are one of the better AAU coaches around you of all people should be well aware that reloading your team with more talented players and having your best team ever doesn't always mean you'll go deeper in the big tournament. The HS state tournament is one and done also so it's pretty tough.

 

Bottom line is that more people will jump on here for controversy than anything else. Maybe they moved to buy their dream home, maybe it was to help their oldest son, or to put their youngest kid in a better school, or maybe it was for her to play at Boone. In a nutshell, who gives a care.

In a lot of these cases I think parents/players have a tendency to bolt for "better" opportunities based on who they have played with in the summer or in the past, ....AND based on what type of team they will be on if they return to their school versus what type of team they will be on if they leave.

 

It happens all over the country. No better example than the Mason Ohio team a few years ago that was one of the better teams in the USA. They came from over the place.

My fear and I believe it is happening, HS ball is now becoming AAU ball.

Behrens will help Boone and she now lives in the school district so it appears no one can alter the inevitable. Boone will also have a target on them this year just as NDA did last year. I doubt this will help Boone become a top ten or even guanentee they will make it to state.

 

Nell is a good coach with good players so the pressure will be on this team to perform and that is not always the best scenario.
