welovethisgame...I couldn't agree more about each one of your statements. Boone had and will always have a target on their backs so nothing will be new there. I believe they would have been ranked as a pre-season top 10 or 15 regardless of Behrens due to last season’s record, beating quality opponents, winning the 9th, and returning their team this year. I've seen their schedule and it is brutal so I doubt they will remain in the top 10-15 for very long, but it looks as if they should be more tournament tough.

 

When it's a one-and-done tournament anything can happen on any given night so no one, especially Fookes, expects a guarantee of anything. NDA was pretty much a guarantee last year and you can best believe Fookes will make sure her team doesn't lose sight of that fact.

Equus...you named 6 transfers over the past 10yrs. NDA had at least 5 transfers on their bench last season so why are they not getting blasted. I'm sure HC has had more transfers also. I'm also pretty sure that Highlands has had more if you include the 3 transfers coming this year. Sounds like people on here pick and choose who to attack. Each one of you may know the family so I may be wrong, but I see one post near the top that reads "I heard the Family moved because of a new job in Florence". No one confirmed it as far as I can see, but everyone jumped all over this and ran with it as if it were fact.

 

CoachK...Even though you are one of the better AAU coaches around you of all people should be well aware that reloading your team with more talented players and having your best team ever doesn't always mean you'll go deeper in the big tournament. The HS state tournament is one and done also so it's pretty toug

Bottom line is that more people will jump on here for controversy than anything else. Maybe they moved to buy their dream home, maybe it was to help their oldest son, or to put their youngest kid in a better school, or maybe it was for her to play at Boone. In a nutshell, who gives a care.

 

I can't think of any prior to this year that transfered in AFTER their freshman year to Highlands. I know of two from Conner this year, who is the third that is not a freshman?

Sorry bluethunder! one of them I was referring to this year is an incoming freshman that was originally going to NCC. I counted her because at least 2 of the 6 girls listed above for Boone were incoming freshman as well so I assumed those were considered transfers.

No offense but the thread isn't going in the direction that you would like it to so you want to see it closed. A very talented basketball player transfers to her 3rd school in 4 years and that isn't news? Sorry but this is exactly the type of thing that people on BGP's enjoy discussing regardless of what side of the story you happen to be on.. :lol:

DONE!! I am just glad to see people from the 9th region finally getting excited about something. Most posts on here are from all other parts of Ky. except Northern Ky. Only now maybe we can have some positive news from the 9th.

:confused: I keep being told by many that it really doesn't matter where you play High School any longer. College Recruiters don't come to many high school games anymore these days unless it is more of a photo opportunity and some good pub. for the coach and his school. Most recruiters to my understanding are beating the paths on the AAU circuit so your 10-18 as opposed to 24-4 theory doesn't carry alot of weight IMO. Good players are found these days..Just no loyalty to anything anymore by parents with their kids. We will just keep moving you around until we find the place thats does things athletically as mommy/daddy wants and oh by the way if you happen to get a decent education out of it well thats all the better. IMO loyalty is a very honorable attribute that isn't being taught by parents to their kids much these days.. Just my opinion. One of which many disagree I'm sure of..

Gosh in some cases the AAU "advisor" might even push for a change of schools so the AAU team can be better. Or maybe some recruiter plants the seed that playing for a so-so school team is hurting the player.

Yes they changed residence but were still ruled ineligible.

I had heard that they were ruled ineligible and appealed the verdict and the officer of the KHSAA ruled them eligible. It now goes back to the board if memory is correct. I guess if you move from ryle to boone like Dailey did or Ludlow to Florence that is ok but moving from Hebron to Ft. Thomas isn't. Make's a lot of sense doesn't it.. And they are living in Ft. Thomas and all childern are attending school in Ft. Thomas. I believe they have purchased a house.

It's not their fault at all, but it makes total sense with the fiasco on the Highlands football field just a couple of short years ago with their transfer as well as the one that has been playing out in the newspaper over the past few weeks with the track team. I have no clue, but I cannot imagine that there is not some sort of probationary period for breaking the rules. I would also imagine every transfer going there will be under a microscope for a while.
