hi everyone. Im doing a project on high school basketball on Kentucky high school basketball. Im been getting wonderful responses for the boys. Now, I would love to hear from the girls fans and basketball coaches from all over the Commonwealth. What are the top teams in 2016-17? Which region should be the toughest? Which program should make a huge move to the state finals? The top Kentucky girl in basketball is Seygan Robins from Mercer County? going to Louisville? I've read where Scott County has a good program? How about Eastern Kentuky's girls programs? Corbin? Bell County? Harlan County? Ashlands area schools ? I would love any information on this? Which programs in Western Kentucky are going to be good? How about Central Kentucky? Washington County? Adair County? just to name a few? I know the Lville area has a few. How about Covington/Newport area in Northern Kentucky? Im so excitied to read about all the information about girls basketball in the Bluegrass State. Thanks for all the kindess from everyone. Best teams this year - mercer county, male and butler

Best players are Lindsay Duvall (Louisville school) and the girl from Butler committed to Dayton.

Holmes high school won the 9th region and should be favorites again, only lost 1-2 players. Simon Kenton (8th region) and Mason County (10th region) favorites return all their players and will be strong candidates for the top NKY team along with Holmes.

Best team in the State? You have to respect the Butler juggernaut! 2 championships in the last 3 years? Returning the starting rotation? Wow!

I haven't seen the team play but Murray finished 35-2 last year(losing to State Champ Butler) and returns their top 5 scorers, including three great rising juniors who played together this summer(Burpo, Mayes and the amazing Turley) as well as Senior Waldrop.....they will be a really tough out.

BGP will be a good source of basketball once the season starts. There's usually quite a bit of chatter that goes on about teams and players.

Most of the pre-season choices have been listed.

I've seen Murray play. Team is solid and that coach is one to really watch. She's very passionate about her kids and pushes them to give that little extra. Last year yes they did finish 35-2. One of those loses being to eventual State Champ Butler and a last second shot against Mason Co. Murray really needs to get out there and play some out of Region teams. They did a great job by getting into tat Lex. Cath tournament and putting the state on notice that this team will be tough. Their Region isn't very strong (IMO). SO getting out there and playing some good team out of Lexington, Louisville or really anywhere across the state. Best of luck and I hope I get to see them again at the Lexington Cath. Tournament.

I'm probably a little biased but I think the best player in the 14th region, where I live, is 6' junior forward/center Macie Gibson from Owsley County. She's just got back from AAU this summer, playing for Kentucky Premier. They had tournaments in Bowling Green, Lexington, Nashville, and Atlanta. I'm really looking forward to seeing her lead the Lady Owls this season.

Butler, Butler and Butler, best team in the state.

Jaelen Penn from Butler is incredible but the Duvall girl from Bullitt East, probably best if the state. Of course, now that she is not going to uk and going to UofL, she will get screwed out of Miss Basketball awards but whatever.

Going to be a fun year but Butler is just loaded!

I bolded the two 5th Region schools in Washington Co. (been down for a few years) and Adair Co. (usually one of the better teams in the region).

Traditionally E'town is the best in the 5th and one of the best in the state, but with their coaching change I don't know what's going to happen within that program.

If E'town does falter, Nelson County is poised to take the mantle, or possibly Green Co. or North Hardin or John Hardin.

I'm telling u guys Murray High is gonna be a tough out. I jumped on the bandwagon last yr..lol.. Mayes &Turley n the back court and Burpo&Waldrop inside!! They play well together and there defense is nasty! Turley runs the offense; Mayes maybe the best 2 way player n the state; Burpo is a matchup nightmare for some schools;Waldrop is very nice in the post and runs the floor well for a post!! Turley, Mayes, Burpo on juniors!!
