  1. Hi everyone. I sent out an idea for a basketball tourney between the 2 states and lots of wonderful feedback. Thanks to all of you who responded. I know it would be impossible but something like it could work. Maybe not with so many teams but have programs that don't get the recongized for the hard work they do. Many programs here in Hoosier State could get recognized more if there was more tourneys out there. I for one would love to see a 1A tourney for Indiana's schools held in New Castle. The 2A schools play at Southports Fieldhouse (worth the trip). 3A's programs play in Seymours Scott gym. 4A's programs play in Kokomo's Memorail gym or the Berry Bowl (Logansport) or Jasper's gym. I just love high school sports is all. I really feel the better your program is the more fans will notice it. I just like sharing my ideas with everyone is all. I even sent a letter to New Castle's Athletic Director (New Castle, Indiana) about my idea : A Day at the Fieldhouse with both boys/girls programs from all over HoosierLand. Start on a Monday nite with 2 games 2 on Tuesday 2 on Wed 2 on Thursday 3 on Friday and 10 or more on Saturday. No response of course but I sent it out anyway. Oh well. I just wanted to share this with all of you. Have a great day and super Basketball season. Roy Goodman:wave:
  2. true but wouldn't it be interesting to see it happen? lots of confusion Im sure correct?
  3. hi everyone. this is one of my ideas that I have to share with others is all. I just wanted to get feedback to see what everyone thought. Great ideas and nice people along the way.
  4. Im looking into that. I think Evansville's schools have in St. Louis. Not sure though. I know there is a 300 mile rule for Indiana schools I think. I know in football Indy area football programs goto Cincinnati to play there. Warren Central and Ind Cathedral both have for several years. I know the baseball programs goto Tennessee for some kind baseball tourneys in the summer.
  5. true. these are just ideas I have to share with other basketball fans in both states is all. just getting the feedback has been great. thanks.
  6. hi to be honest I dont know much about the LaPorte LaLumiere School. I've heard its hard for them to play Indiana high school programs.
  7. hi everyone. what a great group of people in the BLuegrass State. So many kind people who know so much info on high school sports. I have really enjoyed the responses and info so much. Thanks again. Question?? When is the King of Bluegrass tourney and where? info on that would be so helpful. Also, the middle school sports I have just been amazed by the work that is done on that. I would love so much to work with others on it. Again, thanks to all of you. Im only on here for 30 days so I'm hoping I can get so much wonderful info from all of you. 9. thanks to my Bluegrass State Basketball Friends. What a wonderful response. Its amazing how everyone loves basketball . Thanks for the info. I see Augusta is the trip to make in 2016-17? I was thinking of the Madison County Hoopfest ? thanks everyone. I hope to hear from several of you .
  10. Hi, my Bluegrass friends. A big thanks to everyone who has shared information with me for my high school basketball project. I've been working really hard and getting all the coaches names with each school. I know summer is very busy with filling them. the same here in Indiana. the KY Scorecard has been a wonderful help with the names. I'm sending out a GOOD LUCK LETTER to several basketball coaches in the Bluegrass State. I have already mailed out 6 so far. I'm also sending one to Athletic Directors all over the Bluegrass State. Now, I have a question for my Bluegrass State friends: Is there a list of for who has coached the longest at the states programs (boys/girls)? Still active that is. Who has won the most state championships (boys/girls)(coaches that is). Which school (boys/girls) has won the most state titles and runners up? I know it may seem alot of work but its amazing who has done what right? I would just like to read what everyone has to write about. Thanks for any information. Hope to hear back from many of you. Roy Goodman:)
  11. hi my Bluegrass State Friends. What a wonderful group of people sharing information with me. I have really enjoyed the information I have recieved. Now, the question: Who has the largest gyms in the BLuegrass State? Name of School and seating. Is there a list somewhere the information is located? Indiana has 15 of the 16 largest high school gyms in the country. share your info and see where it takes us. Thanks so much Bluegrass State Friends. Roy Goodman:wave::up:
  12. hi everyone. I have a wonderful idea. I'm sending this out to see what you think. How about a giant boys basketball tourney for 40 boys basketball programs from both states. It would be held in Seymour, Indiana. The Scott Gym holds over 8,000 plus and the history there is great. Yes, 40 programs. The more high school basketball games the better rigth? 20 from Indiana/20 from Kentucky. Have it on a Thurs/Friday/ all day Saturday. Hotels everywhere along I65 South. It would be called: the Best Basketball in the Country. What do you think? then the next year, have it in Kentucky. It could work it would take 2-3 years of planning to do. What do you think? Kentucky fans pick your top 20 programs from the last 3-4 years. Which programs travel better? Which programs would be worth watching? What players could make it a giant classic. From Western Kentucky to Eastern Kentuky to the central part. Owensboro to Ashland to Corbin to Kenton County to Grayson County to Lincoln County. What do you think? It could be very interesting to see a tourney of this size work. Let me know. Thanks have a great day everyone. Roy Goodman:wave::sneaky:
  13. Hi. I've often wonder why there isn't a tourney matching up Indiana's and Kentucky's team together. I would think that would work in both states. In Indiana, we have so many great programs right now that could play with most other states programs. I would have the tourney at Columbus North High School in Columbus, Indiana. Have it a Friday/Saturday all day. Have 20 programs (10 from Indiana/10 from Kentucky). Columbus North, Penn, Greenfield Central, Laf Central Catholic, Jeffersonville, Oak Hill and others play the Bluegrass State's top girls programs. It would work. Lots of pride and talent could be seen. The more high school basketball the better. What do you think? In Kentucky, name your top 10 from the last 3-4 years. The more exciting the better the games will be. Thanks. Roy Goodman:wave:
  14. hi, my name is Roy Goodman and I live in Lafayette, Indiana. Im doing a high school project on high school basketball in the Bluegrass State. The response I have received has been SUPER AND WONDERFUL AND WHAT VERY KIND PEOPLE IN THE BLUEGRASS STATE. So many nice and informative people there. thanks! I have been sending letters to AD's all over the Bluegrass State but none of have responded as yet of course. Its summer and everyone is busy. That's a good thing. I've missed my calling in being a high school athletic director. I would have loved to have been one. Im 45 years old and its to late for it. So, I took another route in enjoying high school sports from all over the country. My dream since I was 18 was to be a AD at a small school . We have several here in the Hoosier State. High School sports is a wonderful thing to enjoy and watch and learn from. This next basketball season, I will be sending out a GOOD LUCK LETTER to basketball coaches (boys/girls) all over the Bluegrass State. What a history of high school basketball there .I remember when a Indianapolis tv station played the Kentucky state championship on tv. I remember Clay County and Scott County? I think. I still remember that. I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know I will be sending out hundreds of GOOD LUCK LETTERS to your basketball coaches. I hope to get a wonderful response. If your athletic department ever needs a wonderful sports guy to work in your AD department let me know. Have a super and great and wonderful season(s) in 2016-17 and please be safe . Have a great day everyone. Thanks again.!!!!:facepalm::up: Roy Goodman
