Bluegrasspreps.com's Mr. Football 2016 Watch List

This list will be interactive.

We want to narrow this down to the Top 25 players who have the best shot at taking home the prestigious award this Winter. We will start by filling in 15 names that we feel are some of the most obvious choices based on their body of work, but the remaining 10 spots will be from the voice of the people voting who they feel will be most deserving.

Please use THIS thread for all nominations. State the case for each player you want to nominate and let's keep the discussion limited to this thread as well. Nominations will close on Friday, July 29th, and we will commence with voting to complete the list of 25 names on the Watch List.

With that said, let's begin with the first 15 names! These will be in alphabetical order:

OL/DL Cole Bentley, Belfry

DB/WR Jairus Brent, Waggener (Jr.)

RB/DB Trajon Bright, Mayfield

RB Jamale Carothers, Bowling Green

WR/DB Keyron Catlett, Christian County

WR/DB CJ Hayes, South Warren

QB/DB Rex Henderson, Butler County

WR/DB Dante Hendrix, Cooper

DL RayQuan Horton, Belfry

WR Jake Johnson, Pulaski County

QB Tanner Morgan, Ryle

QB Cameron Racke, Simon Kenton

QB Desmond Ridder, St. Xavier

OL Jedrick Wills, Lafayette

QB Walker Wood, Lafayette

So who fills the remaining 10 spots? Make your nominations below and tell us what makes that player deserving over any other.

Is the big OL at SK a junior? If not, then he should probably be on the list. I think he's getting some D1 looks

Colton Williams and he will be a Junior

Ryder Litten South Warren will put up huge numbers and all does is win which is how QBs are judged

Cash Jones - McCracken County QB

The kid from Glasgow Steven Franklin . He is going to be a 4 year starter, a real D1 talent. A kid to look out for

Derrick Barnes Covington holy cross LB/RB stud.

Please continue nominations

Clark Payne

QB BowlingGreen HS

2600 yards 32TDs last year only trailing Riley Hall in 5A

Won state title in his first year starting!

Numbers don't lie.

QB rating is 115

Percentage completions .65

BG plays the top completion in state and Clark shined against all competition.

Western Kentucky has some guys who will not be on the radar but are very good players.

Adam Bouchard Quarterback at Daviess County, Cash Jones, Quarterback at MCCracken County and Rex Henderson , Quarterback at Butler County.

These Quarterbacks are very good athletes and have done a good job leading their Teams.

Bouchard has started the past two years at Daviess County, he sees the field better than most Quarterbacks and has a strong arm, and he does not make many mistakes. Bouchard can run but has not had to until this year.

Bouchard will have to step up this year for Daviess County he is the only returning starter on Offense. I have been told they have some good young players ready to step.

Jones is a strong Quarterback with a big arm also, Jones can run the ball if needed. McCracken County has been loaded with talent for Jones work with. Jones had lead McCracken for most of the past two years.

Henderson is a big athlete with a strong arm and is a duel threat, Henderson has also started the past two years, Henderson is also a very good defensive player; Butler County will return some good weapons this year.

I expect all three of these players to have a good year and possibly play at the next level.

I think looking at a kids hudl account to see how he plays not just look at stats is always good. I know Bouchard and Jones did not play in the second half of several games because of big leads and running clocks. Nothing wrong with keeping a kid in to help his stats but we need to look at both sides. Football is a team sport sometimes what is best for the team cuts into individual player’s stats.

I am partial to Mayfield's Trajon Bright for obvious reasons. The biggest knock on Trajon is likely to be a lack of touches with the balanced offense MF will run. His numbers last year were cut a little short after he sat out with an injury for a portion of the regular season. I look forward to seeing what kind of numbers he will put up this year

Big guys don't normally get all the Mr. Football love, but Franklin-Simpson OL/DL Cole Kirby will continue to do big things this year on both sides of the ball. Definitely a long shot for Mr. Football, but a name to watch as on of the top players in the state. He already has 12 Division 1 offers, with I'm sure many more to follow in the upcoming season.

Cash Jones - McCracken County QB

Great kid!! But not a MR. Football.

I would definitely say Ryder Litten should be #1 from South Warren... Jonathan Ford will possibly put up great numbers too... Better athlete than Austin McElwain was and has a Major D1 Body!

How does Henschen the QB from Newport Central Catholic not on this list, he is getting D-1 looks?
