This whole open bathroom thing is stupid

I don't know who spoke a hold on this topic yet, but this whole idea that anyone can go into in the bathroom that they choose is just ridiculous. I know people that disagree with me on my views on homosexuality, transgenderism, marriage and other things but I've never actually met someone that really thinks it's a good idea to just let anybody go into a bathroom without any regard to gender. Does anyone really think it's a good idea for a man to decide on his own but he wants to go to the bathroom in the women's bathroom? Does anyone think it's really a good idea for a woman to go to the bathroom in the men's room?

Please believe me that I'm all about rights in this country. Even people whose lifestyle I think is wrong I still believe, in this country, they have the right to live and try to be the best person they can be. But it is stupid to suggest that gender doesn't exist and bathrooms should just be open to anyone

I could not possibly care any less what bathroom a person uses.

If I see a chick in the men's room, which I've seen numerous times, I do my business and leave just like I do if there's only other dudes in there.

It's such a non-issue that people are making a big deal about for absolutely no reason IMO.

If I had to guess, I would say nationwide your opinion is in the majority, but not overwhelmingly.

Honestly when it comes to adults I agree with you what does it really matter, but you have to remember there will be kids in these restrooms, thats when it gets more difficult.

Exactly. I don't care who is in the restroom while I'm using it. However I don't wanna see a grown man walk in the women's restroom while my daughter is in there.

In your opinion, what is the purpose of separate restrooms for men and women?

Maybe I'm missing something, but how could anyone disagree with this statement?

I just think this whole concept that gender doesn't matter just goes against what we all have been taught for the early stage of her life.

Boys going to the boys bathroom and girls going to the girls bathroom.

The fact that that statement is even up for debate is astonishing to me

Yet it's perfectly acceptable for a grown man to walk in while your son is in a bathroom........and there are countless examples of boys being assaulted, peeped on, etc by men in the men's room.

Here's the deal. Men AREN'T just simply walking in the ladies room because they have the right to be in there. Because really, they don't have the right to be there. Realistically the "right" is only being extended to transgender folks. And if a man does walk in, he will likely be met with a lot of unfriendly faces, and if he does so to commit a crime his "right" to be there, doesn't supersede the fact that he was committing a crime. Since all this took hold several months ago, we've had one issue in a Target, and in that issue the guy still decided to disguise himself, and still got caught and arrested. The laws we have work just fine. Keeping a transgender person out (who you will likely not even know is in there), won't prevent a crime from happening....those laws would only criminalize an act that causes no one any harm (a transgender using the bathroom they identify with).

Sex is biological. Gender roles are constructed by society, and in reality have nothing to do with sex. Gender and sex are two separate things, and our association of gender with sex, is what creates these worries and fears.

I have not completely read up on the new law, but from what I have read, I don't agree with you. The way I see it is this law opens the door for any Tom, Dick, or Harry that wants to go into the female restroom, rather than using the appropriate one. I'm not talking about transgenders, transexuals or whatever else there is that I may have forgotten to mention. What I'm talking about is straight, grown men, that can claim they feel like a woman at the time they want/need to use the restroom. Maybe it's not common place at the moment, but that doesn't mean things cant change with a brisk wind, ask Bruce Jenner or whatever it calls itself these days.

And does a sign or law stop them from walking in?? Nope. But lets just say, a guy decides one day to walk in. He discretly uses the bathroom, in a closed stall, and walks right out. What harm has been done?? You mention Jenner. Is she on a crime rampage in bathrooms?? Nope. So how does someone "suddenly changing their mind with a brisk wind" endanger everybody.

That's the problem. Some(not all) of the stuff that we were "taught" in the early stages of our lives was just plain stupid. Just because mommy and daddy passed along to us what their mommy and daddy passed along to them doesn't mean we should be perpetuating the same silliness to our kids.

I guess I just don't think it's stupid to teach my son that he is a boy and to go to the boys bathroom if he has to go to the bathroom.
