I need to check him this year. I saw him for about a half last year and he didn't do much but it was only 16 minutes of action.

 

Meyer is very good but the system he is playing in gives him no freedoms. Coaching is to controlling zones and set offenses. Dixie doesn't score many points.

I realize I'm in the vast minority but I don't think CVH is going to be a good college player. He used to be a lockdown defender who couldn't shoot outside the elbow and now he's added bad weight and can't guard athletes.

 

He'll finish a fine HS career but I think McNeil, Kunkel and Frederick are all better right now and will be much better college players. CVH peaked as a sophomore, maybe even as a freshman.

I don't necessarily disagree. We will see what the younger Ruthsatz does, allowing CVH to have second touches in a possession. He's gonna average over 20 but I agree that defensively he lags behind. I would still put him solidly number 2 behind McNeil. Number 1 is McNeils spot to lose. His build and skill allow him the opportunity to stay there. It will simply come down to who works harder. If the effort is equal, it goes to McNeil but if CVH out works him I think our faith will be restored and the blue Colonels will be back at Rupp.

I am a 10th Region guy, and only saw limited 9th Region teams. However, I was very impressed with the young Beechwood PG Toebbe. Found him to have a very strong upside and at 6'4" an absolute load for defenses to handle. Appeared very smart with the ball and a very good shooting stroke with range. Does he not find his way onto this list?

 

That kid is on my list of kids I need to check out. Heard a lot of good things about him.

I'm not a huge CVH fan but I don't see as much separation among this group of 4. I think Frederick and Kunkel will turn out to be better athletes than CVH and McNeil, and therefore have more upside. That said, I think they all fit into the high D-II/low D-I range. Frederick and Kunkel could go mid-major - they have another year to play/get stronger.

 

And to be clear - this isn't intended to slight any of these players. People might disagree with my evaluation - but we can all agree these kids will get their college education paid for and that is a huge accomplishment and credit to all as players.

Don't see much discussion about break out players. There will be some for sure. Lot of solid players that will be better than last year. And a lot that will shine now that they are not in the shadows of someone else.

The Jags will have some rebounding help this year. Not sure he will be a huge scoring threat but at 6'4" 270 he will take up some space underneath.
