I love the disapproval key. Anything posted that I disagree with, I don't have to go through a lot of discussion about my ideas and political policies. You can always call me out anytime to ask me to explain. I'm fair game, have at it. Tomorrow I'll have my recap of this weeks speeches and the Republican Convention. I'm just getting over a major 5 to 7 hour back surgery with about 20 inches of staples and stitches, recovery is going well and only now am I getting my stamina back, to work at the computer so now I can spend longer times to express what I think, it has just been easier to hit the disapprove button. Tomorrow I have devoted my time to recap this week and walking, walking, walking for physical therapy.

The last time I got that scared watching something it was Carrie sticking her hand out of grave.

 

The problem is I don't know if I am scared to be living in Trump's America or I'm scared that the boogeyman scaring me doesn't have one idea to solve a problem.

 

Trust him. It will happen. Fast. Don't worry about how. America stinks and he is going to fix it. He loves me and he will do it. Just don't ask him how.

It is so interesting watching the different news/media stations. All predictable responses. Several on FOX calling Trump's speech the greatest political speech they have ever heard. The Dem people on CNN, especially the minorities, calling the speech the most divisive speech they ever heard. It makes me wonder ... is there anything a candidate could do in a speech like that which would cause the media people who are paid to be R's and D's to say it was bad? I know these people get paid to speak for the R side and the D side so maybe they are obligated no matter what the candidate says.

Listening to clips of the speech and I am suddenly struck by how much Trump sounds like Christopher Walken. Never noticed the similarity before. Perhaps it is because of the slow pace Trump had in tonight's speech.

A lot of conservatives took to Twitter to bash Ivanka on talking about wage gaps as they say it is a myth.

 

Quite interesting for her to wave the flag for working women. I wonder how many it convinced. I liked what she had to say. However, I understood her to say that the place where wages are lagging is for working mothers and this is what needs addressing and her father will. Actually, when you take the statistics she quoted it really didn't prove anything. You have no idea what she is comparing. To say that women's wages are some percentage of men's wages doesn't tell you why. Is it because they all make less money for working the same job, the same number of hours, with the same amount of experience, training, without interruption, at the same job for the same # of years, etc.? All things that make a difference in one's wages. I n other words, comparing apples to apples. Or are those statistics just a blanket statement that the sum total of all women who are working make less than than the sum total of all men who are working--which is a meaningless statement? Neither here nor there since I am not arguing the point. Just making an observation.

 

But I understood her to be implying that the only area of concern is with working mothers. I can't remember the three categories of working women she used.

I just now woke up and turned the TV off. I caught most of what Trump said but faded towards the end, I'm guessing.

Does anyone know what were the major topics Trump covered? 1. Law and Order in the US. Protecting the LGBTQ community falls under this. 2. Stopping Islamic terrorism overseas and from coming here. 3. Immigration: a) stopping the legal migration of people from countries where Islamic terrorists are known to be a large percentage of the population (relatively speaking), and b) stopping illegal immigration from Mexico because it puts US citizens in danger.

 

Anything else?

I heard a lot of what Trump will do as President and as has been pointed out, very little about how. What he said he would do, like be the Law and Order President and end this violence against the police--really fast, and end the Isis threat--fast etc., makes me wonder how he will accomplish it. Short of declaring martial law, I don't see how he's going to have a big impact on Law and Order within a short amount of time.

 

Will he rule by fiat? Seriously, what does Trump think he can do from the Oval Office? If this was not America where the executive branch has limited powers and is held in check by two other branches of government, I would think Trump was going to rule like a dictator, a benevolent one, of course. I am assuming this is not what he meant because he couldn't possibly mean that, but is there anything in what he actually said that demonstrates he does not mean that? He told us to believe he was going to do what he said on many occasions, but I just can't believe he would do that.

 

BTW, I am not being facetious here. Did his speech not come across like I said?
