I think you are clearly on the left, and that's what you heard. I heard a different message but this year I'm swing from the right side of the box.

 

These speeches are always puppies and rainbows. I look for HRC speech writers to come up with a jfk/mlk type knock it out of the park speech.

 

Weather you liked Trump's speech or not it will force the Democrats and the left media to really play up her speech, his was well enough received by America it's game on from here.

The two minority commentators on last night's CNN panel were as outraged as I have ever seen commentators get. It got pretty heated as they went back and forth with the two Trump people on the panel. About as heated as it can get without coming to blows.

 

 

Cnn will have 8 pundits. 6 against Trump and 2 for Trump. I'm not claiming fox doesn't or won't cover the dem convention the same way, I'm sure they will.

 

I watch cnn probably more than fox just to hear how negative towards the right they are. I guess we all hear what we want to hear in the end.

I heard a guy who wants to be president for me and all Americans, wants clean up the current Washington we have, turn our trade deals and economy to the favor of us. Stronger stance on ISIS and terrorism in general. Every kid having a chance to be the best they can be no matter where they live.

 

I can't parse his whole speech on my phone, but I'm not scared because I'm "white", if anyone thinks police getting murdered in the broad day light is not an attack on all Americans then we're beyond fixing.

My point is you will never see 3 dem's and 3 gop's. It's always unbalanced on attacks.

She has been the cnn Republican attack dog. She started out I think on the Jeb bush team. When he started losing she really went after Trump and has'ent let up.

Had lunch with a member of said community today and I uttered the EXACT phrase. He has no shot.

 

That said, why I was pleasantly surprised he walked out on that limb tonight.

That quote was in reference to someone noting that Trump kept asking people to believe he would accomplish the stuff he was promising, like Law and Order.

 

No, is my answer. The difference I see is that most (read "every other") candidates promise to accomplish a bunch of stuff but then mention working with their own party in the House and Senate and even reaching across the aisle to work with those members of the opposite party who are willing to work together towards a goal, like reducing the national debt (hey, there's an idea).

 

Trump spoke as if he would do all that he promised to do, unilaterally. I did not hear him mention enlisting the aid of Speaker Ryan or Senate Leader Mitch McConnell. He sure didn't mention working with the Democrats. He did mention that he and Mike Pence would do something. But basically, his whole speech was what he would do because he said he would do it. That may work when you own the company and can fire anyone who doesn't play along. That doesn't work in a representative government with a separation of powers.

 

Unilateral decision-making and unilateral implementation requires lots of authority. The dreaded executive order that O'Bama is fond of is one example. I am a limited government conservative. Can any of you Trump supporters show me what conservative principles Trump's promises line up with, either the proposals from his speech or any of his policies he talked about on the campaign trail leading up to last night? I would appreciate that because last night, Trump sounded like a big, authoritarian government guy, not a conservative. I realize that once I picked up on that tone I may have heard everything else he said through that filter. I need to read a transcript of his speech to digest what he said to see if I still have the same impression.

 

Ummm, not sure if you have seen the most recent dude to occupy the big white building on Penn Ave, but he's gotten pretty good at this one....
