Here's what I don't like about Rose. He's a small, super athletic point guard that relies on that super athleticism to do what he does and to play his best. Once that athleticism is gone, you have to have heart, determination, grit and savvy to make things happen...done of which, in my opinion, he has shown he has. I don't think this helps the Knicks...it helps the Bulls in the fact that now the Rose era is over, they can move on ad start to find other pieces to build on.

The injuries sealed his fate, but that comment probably punched his ticket. I'm hopeful this is the move he needs to get back on top of his game.

I heard a Knicks fan today on MadDog saying he knows Rose will have a great season, get paid by the Knicks and become an albatross.

I wouldn't call him a big guy...he's not AI, but he's not Magic either. He's 6'3 (and maybe in actuality not quite that tall) but he doesn't rely on his size/height/strength to do what he does, he's relied on his amazing athletic ability. And when guys who rely on their athletic ability lose it, their games usually take a tumble pretty quick, especially a pg who was super quick and explosive.

I was just curious where you got small from, considering he's as big or bigger than the vast majority of PGs in the league....And he absolutely uses his physicality to get to the bucket. Well, he did before his injuries at least.

And that's what I'm saying, even most of his physicality came from his amazing athletic ability.

 

I will go back a ways and compare him to someone like a Dennis Johnson when he was with the Celtics. DJ was never an exceptionally quick, fast pg, but more of a bull/grinder (and way underrated, by the way). As he got older his game didn't dip that much because he had never really relied on his athletic ability to do what he did anyway.

 

I think that's why you see guys like Amar'e Stoudemire, when they get injured they almost never come back anywhere close to what they were because they depend so much on their supreme athletic ability to get it done instead of strength/grit/gile/savvy.

Some of us choose to see him as the guy who could potentially remind everyone why he won an MVP in a league with LeBron, Durant, Dirk, Kobe, and several other all-time talents, if he can put the injuries out of mind. Just let us be optimistic for now.

As an NBA fan I'm wishing Rose bounces back. Having the Knicks be relevant is good for the league. I love watching competitive games at the garden .

I'm afraid you're right. I'm guessing this is a moved based on the salary cap / upcoming free agency moreso than adding DRose's talent.

It's a shame he can't stay healthy. It's amazing to see the difference in his game since his MVP season. I watched a 10 minute highlight clip from that season and it blew me away.
