Albeit from afar call me cynical.

If half of what Mike Harper is doing is true, he should not only lose his job, but he should also face criminal charges as well for endangering a minor. The video shown on WBKO on this story showed a game between Bowling Green and Muhlenberg Co. where Sampson is diving for the ball on the end line and hits her head hard on the floor. Instead of sitting her out and making sure she did not have a concussion, Harper sent Sampson back out onto the floor. I also read about this story in yesterday's edition of the Kentucky New Era and gives more details of what was going on. For example, Harper tried to prevent his players from talking to their parents about what was going on in practices and games. Also it was noted that Harper would mock the parents of his players that were sitting in the bleachers during games. I believe Muhlenberg County needs to find a new girls basketball coach ASAP.

If sending a player back into a game after the player takes a hard shot in a game is grounds for dismissal, then there are likely a lot of coaches that need to be replaced.

 

This lawsuit makes coaching that much more appealing....

Where was the trainer or medical personnel? Any time I have witnessed an injury during a game it was up to the trainer to say if the player was able to return to the game immediately or even the next game played.

Anyone that's privy to this situation knows that this is a bogus lawsuit. Dig a little deeper people. I seriously don't know why anyone wants to coach anymore.

Harper been in the game for years. Loved watching him in the tournament all those years. Never a complaint. And he's a little fella! Very intimidating! Lol. Parents should be sued!

Decisions regarding the medical fitness of a player are the responsibility of the training/medical staff. If she was cleared by the that staff, then this is not a coaching issue what so ever.

If this young lady had ongoing pain related to playing the game, then why didn't her parents take her to a doctor to get checked out ? The injuries cited are not caused by a one time event (with the exception of the concussion).

 

And why wait until after the season if she had already quit the team after 4 games ? If she wanted to make a statement, why not bring the heat during the season, when you had a better chance at compare and contrast the coaching style.

 

This reminds me of a situation a few years ago at CCHS where a player / parent had an issue with a block / charge drill and their kid was alleged to have been hurt. Parent was a school board member.
