I"m curious... what is the tuition at a private school like LCA and Lex. Cath.?

There are no private schools where I live and I have always wondered about that.

Regarding Coach Rains. I think the program has come a long way in a short time. I think some of us need to keep things in perspective. I for one believe it would be great to get a Christian education and field a competitive athletic program. Are the coaches good role models? Are they being taught Christian values? Maybe these should be more important than winning a state championship. I think many would argue that some of the aforementioned have been lost at other "Christian" schools in favor of winning. I know this is a football forum but I don't like to see coaches judged soley on X's and O's. end of my sermon

Coach Rains knows offense. While he is normally a run first coach, he knows how to throw the ball around a little. He had Ryan Jones at Madison Central who threw for over 8,000 yards in three years and was third in the state at one time in passing. There were a lot more targets to throw to at a 4A school then a A though.

 

I just think that LCA had a lot of talent the past couple of years and got spoiled a little bit. They have only been fielding a varsity team for 6 years I think. Maybe they had success too early with too few growing pains and it is catching up to them now. I still say they will win at least 5 or 6 games because the district they play in pretty bad.

I saw Dennis and Derick Johnson on the LCA staff. Two Mercer Co residents. I take it that Derick works with the O-line and Dennis with the D-line.

I saw some talent out their on the field. I think the swarm of players Mercer brought at them might have rattled them a bit. I think it was #34 for LCA that I liked alot.

The district may not be great, but I look for Raceland, Paris, Fairview, and then LCA in that district.

So who's your team...get us on the schedule..we'll whip their butt too.

Does Mercer play it's games beside the baseball field with the mountain in centerfield beginning at about pitchers mound or is that the middle school field? If that is the high school facilities they should have spent some money upgrading baseball before building an indoor facility. I have never seen a worse baseball field in the entire state and I have seen plenty bad ones. Curious because I want to see Mercer play in a few weeks.

Funny buddy. Why don't you learn to be a little more classy. This is a Classy site. Also, prior to chuck smith we never really had any problems with Boyle. And that is in no way a disrespect to the Boyle faithful. And we are getting all new facilities in which I am sure will make your school seem kinda dwarfed.

As I understand it Mercer will be updating all the athletic facilities along with the new high school. Sometimes you have to make due with what you have and make the best of it. I do not think anyone is comparing Mercer to Danville or Boyle county. Those are two storied programs with great tradition, that has been earned. It is understandable if some of the Mercer supporters are excited however, they have only played one game and I expect South L. will be a big test for the titans. I sure would be nice to have a third strong program in the area. I'd personally like to see Danville, Boyle and Mercer play each other annually. Can you imagine the gate receipts for those games... maybe then Mercer could afford a better baseball facility campbellfield.

In order to become a passing team, you'll need SPEED, and a kid who can wing it. They'll have to put more emphasis into their athletic programs to get over the hump. Rains has somewhat tarnished his image by comments made about former players. He should've been better than that because word has spread and the parents of some kids here in lexington have reconsidered sending their kids to LCA and instead considered Catholic. People also watch games, and last year, he had a WR that was in the state's preseason top 50 and didn't try and get him at least 10 touches a game. Tyrell was great, but he would've been even better if the ball was spread around to some of those good skilled players that helped LCA's turnaround before Hayden's arrival. I bet you can understand that one real well Bluto.

:confused: Fold??? So he took a team that had one like 2 games in 3 years to a 10-2 record (Regional Final and win over Beachwood) in 3 years...and you say they should get rid of him. Are you kidding me? What killed LCA last year against NCC was depth...not spreading the ball around. As a matter of fact LCA was pretty evenly split on the run-pass last year. I assume you probably didnt watch any GAME FILM last year...but that "WR" was double covered quite a bit. This post blows my mind.

Careful with your comments. A feel good win against LCA is a far cry from being able to play with Russell. Mercer is looking very much like a team to make it deep into playoffs, however, we haven't and probably won't see a team like Russell. Newport or Boyle would be a measuring stick for that. The Red Devils didn't get there overnight....neither will we.

I disagree- Someone felt it important enough to rank them (LCA) in the top 25 overall. LCA is over-rated. They had a good year last year with their loaded offense.

LCA is never going to rank like Lex.Cath, NKY, Louisville type private schools. They may try but they will never become the program like NCC.

why can't they build a program like the ones mentioned. They have very nice facilities the coaching staff is dedicated. Give the boys a chance! I had a chance to get inside LCA last year, what a beautiful campus. I still would like to know what the tuition is??????

Obviously you have never talked to anyone from another team that has played them. They also teach false doctrines on other religions at their school. Can't respect that!

It just will never happen... They will have good seasons off and on, but will never be a Powerhouse.
