So, Mercer put out 80 kids on their own this year. I don't know where you get your stats from, the stats I've seen say otherwise. I'm not saying anything bad about Mercer, it's not their fault they're in 2A. That's the cards they're dealt. It's the KHSAA's fault but it's still an advantage against the other 2A schools. But anyway, forget about that. It's over... the season has begun and you play with what you got. Congrats to Mercer on an impressive win over what I hear is a good LCA team. Good luck to you!!!!!

Bottom line.... for Mercer to have any chance against Russell and/or Belfry they better have one heckuva good run defense as well as tons of discipline.

So, are you saying that classification is based on TEAM size? I always thought it was based on school size. Silly me.

I think I've seen enough Mercer bashing already. I was afraid of this. We are just happy to get a win. And what about the beechwood's of class A? Lexington Catholic when they were in AA before getting moved up. They had huge numbers too. It's just how it works until they fix it. Bottom line Mercer will be able to play with Russell or whoever in AA this year. These two teams have been on the verge of merging for 20 years. It shouldn't have tooken this long.

I also would like to say that I think LCA fought hard. They lost alot and they will get back where they want to be. The losses they suffered from graduation was a tough pill to swallow.

That's not the same because they met the qualifications of the class. Mercer does not meet the qualifications of the class 2a this year.

Any other year Mercer would be 3A this season. They don't have the enrollment of a Male,X,, or Trinity. Anyway just because you have huge #'s doesn't mean you will be great. But Mercer has some players this year. They have more then 15 players from Harrodsburg. But, alot of kids have come out who hadn't came out in the past.

Careful with your comments. A feel good win against LCA is a far cry from being able to play with Russell. Mercer is looking very much like a team to make it deep into playoffs, however, we haven't and probably won't see a team like Russell. Newport or Boyle would be a measuring stick for that. The Red Devils didn't get there overnight....neither will we.

Hey, I think we were pretty descent last year. We had some key injuries against Russell. I said we can play with any of them. I didn't say we would wipe the field with them.
