Kick-butt local food in Greenup/Lewis Co.

It was full of graffiti the last time I was there, but it was still a cool bridge, the graffiti and carvings gave it more more character than if it were just a perfect covered bridge. I think they have cleaned it up again since, but I imagine you will still see some carvings and graffiti. It would be worth checking out if you have a chance. It's close to Greenbo Lake, unfortunately the lodge is closed due to a fire or I would recommend stopping by there for a bite to eat.

Graffiti adds to the character. These things weren't built yesterday.

A place that has good onion rings goes a long way with me. Good dogs are a bonus.

I'm not looking for five-star eats here — just local flavor. McPapa knows what I'm talking about.

You'll have a hard time finding a 5* hole in the wall in that area to be honest. You might find some decent food, but 5*'s it is not. The Ribber is known for it's steaks, if you wanna cross the bridge into Ohio. Otherwise I would look at what @GOREDDEVILS said and try the libwitch from My Dad's Pizzaria if you want something local and unique to the area. Not much going on in the Greenup/Lewis area food wise outside of that. I get what your wanting to do with the road trip, I just don't know if you will find any stand out restaurants in that area.

Personally I would drive an extra 10 minutes and sample something from Fuji or Alma's in Ashland if your looking for something you could consider a 5* meal. If your a UK fan, there is a Kentucky Hall of Fame Cafe here too, it's part of a chain of HOF restaurants but it is the only UK HOF Cafe in the country, which to me makes it unique. Some of their dishes are local and they use local meats as often as possible.

Completely agree with you. I look at it as art and it adds character that can be dated back many years most of the time.

I should add a disclaimer for Alma's Italian in Ashland though, Hillary Clinton ate there. I'm not sure if it's been contaminated or not.

I love the detail, but you really need to read my post closer. I said I'm not looking for five-star eats. :lol2:

Not sure there's any five-star restaurants in Ky. At least, none I can afford.

Just up from Portsmouth in New Boston Ohio is Hickies Hamburgers who have an article published in USA today that rates them as #1 burger in the America. They are good but not that good. Small and greasey and they serve gravy fries. Maybe 5 minutes from Portsmouth.

Where is Lewis Co.?

You need to get out more!!!!!

You know how it is...if they aren't in the 10th region for bball, I don't get to visit!

C'mon people, there's gotta be something up your way you're proud of. Is there a local place that grinds their own sausage? Bet they have a good breakfast biscuit.

There is a Tres Hermanos right on 23 in Greenup. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is outstanding. I recommend the Shrimp Diablo.

Is Chiggers still open in Vanceburg? You might try it for lunch.

Yeah it was open last time I was there. Not bad for a dairy bar!

I've spent some time out that way for work Jim...local good eats is scarce to say the least. There is a pretty good Italian place in Grayson I eat at when out there if you are in that area @Jim Schue, which you shouldn't be too far from sounds like.
