Chiggers is still open and while not a diner , its a dairy bar , does homemade soups , good footers , surprisingly good homemade smoked BBQ pork sandwiches . A true diner also opened back in the winter . 2nd St diner . Ran by the famous Kenny , former owner of Kenny's in Vburg. Solid daily specials , neat old decor , and the focus point of the joint . burgers . Not fancy just good , get the " kenny " burger . a 1/2 -2/3 pound of messy goodness . skip the pork tenderloin .

June 15, 201610 yr Author Tell us about your trip? Didn't make it — I'm postponing for my July vacation. Just too damned hot the past two days with me driving a big black Caddy with black leather seats and black interior, and no A/C. Spent the past few days watching Netflix, cleaning house and drinking beer. I'll be working my side job the rest of the week, but that's kind of fun, actually. I get paid to exercise and meet people.

There is a pretty good Italian place in Grayson I eat at when out there if you are in that area @Jim Schue, which you shouldn't be too far from sounds like. That would probably be Melini Cucina. Where we eat when we're in Grayson, Morehead, Mt. Sterling, Ironton or Louisa.

July 11, 201610 yr We were in the Portsmouth area this weekend and went to the Ribber. Can highly recommend it. Your choice of steak is 16 oz or 32 oz! And what they call a rib is actually a double pork chop! If you order them 2 is about the max you will need unless you plan to take leftovers home. We were there at 3 o'clock and had no problem with seating but I'm told anything after 4:30 - 5 on weekend requires a long wait.

Was there about 3pm and figured I'd see @mcpapa there for the early-bird special. Did hot dogs over the fire for dinner last night. The closest I got to "local fare" in the Greenup Co. area was a corn dog at a carryout on Rt. 23. Headed back on Rt. 8 all the way through NoKy. Got a reuben at Izzy's and a peach milkshake at UDF.
