His time is not mediocre. Not many HS players run it, but there's no getting through to you.

There are a lot of High School skill players that can run a 4.6, if you don't believe so go look at Regional Results in the NFTC. I'm willing to bet most districts in the state have at least one kid(more for Metro Areas) that can run a 4.6 Again not knocking the kid, just not anything to write home about.

I can tell you that not that many high school kids that I have seen in the past few days ran faster than him. He's in the top 3.

I know a team that will take that slow 4.6 guy.

Here it what I know for sure.... There is no way any of us on BGP, atleast the adult population, stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever coming close to a 4.6/40. With that being said, it is my opinion that if we have something to say at all about a child's accomplishments, perceived or otherwise, it should ONLY be in an encouraging fashion. The pro or even college athletes of the world should be scrutinized more, because for one, they are adults...not children, and two, they are either getting a free education or being paid handsomely to play a game... Just my opinion about this entire thread. He should be very proud of this, and we should atleast encourage, if not praise him for it!

Laser timed 4.6 is cooking it for a KY kid.

 

I am sure there are hundreds or even thousands of kids across the country who could match that, but in the state of KY that puts him in the Top 1 or 2%.

 

I have seen many an athlete who had a 4.5 or 4.45 hand timed forty who suddenly was in the 4.65 or 4.7 range once the laser came into play.

 

Let's give the kid some credit for being in elite company in his home state.

 

For the record there are 252 Division 1 Football Teams. You have to think they average at least 8 skill players per year in their recruiting class. That's probably a minimum of over 2000 skill players per year that get scholarship offers (I honestly think 2500-3000 is more accurate). Even if 1000 other kids run faster than him around the country that is still D-1 worthy speed for a skill player.

 

Just a little perspective.

I'm not sure why you have such an axe to grind with D. He's a great kid who has been working hard at becoming the best football player he can be. He has no offseason. He comes from a great family and honestly I don't care if he ran a 5.1 laser timed 40 yard dash. I hope he has the senior year he is working to have and I hope he is able to accomplish his goals that he has set for himself.

 

Your hatred of him will continue to be his motivation.

Also remember Bryant Koback(UK Commit) 5'11 190 ran a 4.38 their last year. Laser timed. Zy'aire Hughes was timed at 4.42(laser timed) , Kash Daniel at 6'2 230 runs a 4.6. Again D Smith ran a mediocre time, nothing to celebrate. Wasn't even a player of notice in all the recruiting analysts camp reports. Good high school player, absolutely. But for his coach to call him a FBS level recruit...please.

Never once have I hated on him or his skill, said he was a good high school player. I'm hating on the 4.6 being considered good, when its mediocre for a kid his size.
