That is your opinion. I know plenty of coaches who have all said that is a good time for a high school kid. Especially in the state of KY. As someone in this thread stated, that one puts him in the top 1-3% of kids speed wise in the state of KY. That's good no matter how you slice it.

Now a daddy timing his kid at a 4.6 is actually a 4.9 or 5.1.

 

If the kid was laser timed a 4.6, that is faster than some at UK. Everyone in college don't run a 4.3 or 4.4.

I feel safe saying that 90% of the schools in the State of Kentucky don't have anyone walking their hallways, let alone playing football, that would touch a 4.6 Laser 40.

Was the laser time a 4.60 or a 4.69

There is a big difference

 

Reason saying is that a 4.60 can be trimmed down to a mid 4.55to 4.57

 

But a 4.69 is close to a 4.7 which is a very common speed for skill kids going to college.

 

But what the heck are we all even having this discussion. Bottom line is the kid is very fast.

You're Correct in 90% of the schools in the state of KY, that's why I said "Each District" and metro schools probably more. But let's say Cole Bentley at 6'6 300lbs running a 5.3 40, I'd say that's a lot more impressive, then someone at 5'6 160 running a 4.6. One is an FBS player the other is not.

I pulled up the results from the opening for 3 different locations and they had 47, 48, and 70 kids at those camps that were 4.6 or better. If we congratulated every kid in Kentucky who ran a 4.6 we'd keep this board full of "Great job little Jonnie. Here's your participation trophy."

A post was made congratulating the kid about running a 4.6 and it was mentioned that Coach Stoops and staff were pleased. Next thing you know you and Are Linz start preaching about how mediocre it is and all this crap about participation trophies. In case you haven't noticed BGP is in the business of promoting kids the best we can and not tearing them down for doing something positive that gets them noticed. In this game of life D Smith will figure out where he stands in the game of football and it will be lessons learned for D. You sound like someone who knows a kid who ran a sub 4.6 40 yard dash and you didn't have the initiative to start a post on BGP about it. Instead of tearing D and belittling what some coaches think is impressive(Mark Stoops) why don't you just start threads of the hundreds of kids that you know who are faster than him. Great, tell us the 5 kids who were laser timed 4.6 or better and we'll be happy to celebrate them. Actually tell us the Kentucky players that have been laser timed 4.6 or better. We aren't talking about somebody's coach, mother, or you claiming 4.6, but actually laser timed.

All anyone said was he had a nice camp and good job, D. Go back and read the first post. Nobody said he'd be the starting tailback for Alabama next year. They simply said good job, D. Like that is a bad thing. It was posted because there were other kids from KY at the camp and by all accounts he had one of the fastest times there. Now give us your list with laser timed kids so we can celebrate their accomplishments as well. Some of us in KY like to celebrate all KY kids for things perceived to be good by "some" people.
