May 26, 201610 yr If folks are going to lump all liberals in with a small group of rioters, then I guess I'll do the same with the Republicans that I frequently encounter...
May 26, 201610 yr When did you last see a group of Conservatives acting like this? This is common for Liberals, happens all the time. The constituencies the Democrats court use this M.O. all the time. The Occupy movement, BLM, Labor Unions and now these lowlife radicals. It is who the Democrats have become. You've missed your calling as a hack writer for slanted sensationalized AM political talk radio for the gullible masses. But don't give up hope because your work here shows great promise.
May 26, 201610 yr Just because one thinks Trump is a fascist of sorts doesn't make one a "liberal." I doubt that many of these protesters could give a coherent answer when questioned about the main differences between the D and R parties. What they do know is that Trump is a divisive figure, and it's good to see they're expressing their anger in a loud but mostly peaceful manner. I realize we can go round and round on this but protests need to be peaceful and no matter what name we assign to anyone they are protesting against the Republican candidate.

May 26, 201610 yr Author If folks are going to lump all liberals in with a small group of rioters, then I guess I'll do the same with the Republicans that I frequently encounter... When you add up all the recent rioting factions in the party, the number is not as small as you like to pretend it is.
May 26, 201610 yr When you add up all the recent rioting factions in the party, the number is not as small as you like to pretend it is. Really? In relation to ALL Democrats in the whole country? The number isn't small?
May 26, 201610 yr Author Really? In relation to ALL Democrats in the whole country? The number isn't small? When your party panders to these groups, actively seeks them out as potential voting blocks and uses their messages as part of the party platform, no. The number is not small.

I doubt that many of these protesters could give a coherent answer when questioned about the main differences between the D and R parties. What they do know is that Trump is a divisive figure, and it's good to see they're expressing their anger in a loud but mostly peaceful manner. I guess you and I have a different idea of what "mostly peaceful manner" means: Anti-Trump protests turn violent outside New Mexico rally ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — In one of the presidential campaign year's more grisly spectacles, protesters in New Mexico opposing Donald Trump's candidacy threw burning T-shirts, plastic bottles and other items at police officers, injuring several, and toppled trash cans and barricades. Police responded by firing pepper spray and smoke grenades into the crowd outside the Albuquerque Convention Center. During the rally, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was interrupted repeatedly by protesters, who shouted, held up banners and resisted removal by security officers. The banners included the messages "Trump is Fascist" and "We've heard enough." Trump lashed back at protesters, tweeting Wednesday: "The protesters in New Mexico were thugs who were flying the Mexican flag. The rally inside was big and beautiful, but outside, criminals!" At one point, a female protester was physically dragged from the stands by security. Other protesters scuffled with security as they resisted removal from the convention center, which was packed with thousands of loud and cheering Trump supporters. Trump responded with his usual bluster, instructing security to remove the protesters and mocking their actions by telling them to "Go home to mommy." He responded to one demonstrator by asking, "How old is this kid?" Then he provided his own answer: "Still wearing diapers." Trump's supporters responded with chants of "Build that wall!" Trump later tweeted "Great rally in New Mexico, amazing crowd!" The altercations left glass at the entrance of the convention center smashed. Albuquerque attorney Doug Antoon said rocks were flying through the convention center windows as he was leaving Tuesday night. Glass was breaking and landing near his feet. "This was not a protest, this was a riot. These are hate groups," he said of the demonstrators. Albuquerque police said several officers were treated for injuries after getting hit by rocks thrown by protesters. At least one person was arrested from the riot, police said. During the rally, protesters outside overran barricades and clashed with police in riot gear. They also burned T-shirts and other items labeled with Trump's catchphrase, "Make America Great Again." Tuesday marked Trump's first stop in New Mexico, the nation's most Hispanic state. Gov. Susana Martinez, head of the Republican Governors Association and the nation's only Latina governor, has harshly criticized his remarks on immigrants and has attacked his proposal to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The governor did not attend the rally and has yet to make an endorsement. Trump read off a series of negative statistics about the state, including an increase in the number of people on food stamps. "We have to get your governor to get going. She's got to do a better job, OK?" he said, adding: "Hey, maybe I'll run for governor of New Mexico. I'll get this place going." The governor's office fired back, saying Martinez has fought for welfare reform. "The potshots weren't about policy, they were about politics," said spokesman Michael Lonergan. "And the Governor will not be bullied into supporting a candidate until she is convinced that candidate will fight for New Mexicans, and she did not hear that today." Trump supporters at the rally said they appreciated his stance on boosting border security and stemming the flow of people crossing the border illegally, but some said they were frightened by the violent protests outside. Karla Molinar, a University of New Mexico student, said she participated in disrupting Trump's speech because she felt he was attacking members of her family who are living in the country illegally. She said she believes Trump is using them as scapegoats for the nation's problems. ___ Associated Press writer Susan Montoya Bryan contributed to this report from Albuquerque.
May 26, 201610 yr I realize we can go round and round on this but protests need to be peaceful and no matter what name we assign to anyone they are protesting against the Republican candidate. They're protesting Trump personally, not the GOP candidate or the GOP platform. If Cruz or Rubio would have won the nomination, there would be no protests of this magnitude. I'm all for these protests, as long as they're peaceful. I hope 100,000 demonstrators show up in Cleveland when the Republicans actually nominate this reality TV clown to be their standard-bearer.

May 26, 201610 yr "Demonstrators". So in Liberal speak, rioters are now demonstrators. You could probably benefit from a course in logic. All were demonstrators, some were rioters. Regardless, it's refreshing to see young people fired up over the scary prospect of electing a fool as president.
May 26, 201610 yr You could probably benefit from a course in logic. All were demonstrators, some were rioters. Regardless, it's refreshing to see young people fired up over the scary prospect of electing a fool as president. They elected Obama and Bush jr. They are fools too. They not only wrecked the economy, destroyed the military, allowed God knows how many illegals to come in and free load, killed healthcare, got us in stupid wars, etc, etc. Trump is no worse than either of these 2.

May 26, 201610 yr So instead of being able to refute the message, attack the messenger. Another leftist tact. Way to walk lockstep with your brothers. When the premise of the thread begins with a ridiculous shallow claim it pretty much has nowhere to go but down from here much like going down the rabbit hole in a game of "Why?" with a pre-schooler. You might have noticed that so far the discussion you have tried to prompt hasn't anywhere near begun to receive much in the ways of a dignified response not because of its brilliant accuracy in observance, but because the thoughts are based on nonsense from the get go. I doubt that anyone here even believes that you yourself believe this claim, and can see right through it as a petty attempt at sensationalism all for the sake of an argument. If you're hoping with this to represent conservatives as intelligent, logical, and fair it does nothing but the opposite, and I would bet that many sound minded conservatives would hope that you'd not try speak for them. Though the knee jerk reaction for many would be to think of it as ludicrous, I'm sure that some can feel rather reluctant and a bit disarmed to enter your arena and pander to juvenile reasoning. Honestly how does one answer to such nonsense, and I would surmise that those who have attempted to feel a little silly playing into your game. You can look at this as an attack on you while avoiding to refute your wild claims all that you want, but it's either try to and fall into your trap of an endless and ridiculous game of merry-go-round, critique it by simply calling it out for just what it is, or patronize you with a sarcastic compliment, which initially is the avenue that I took.
