WAY TO GO DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa

How many yards did DJ end up with?

How many yards did DJ end up with?

116 last I heard, but he didn't touch the ball much in the 2nd half.

I am awaiting Slcards64's post on this thread. I think he didn't seem to think much of Holmes and thought SL would dominate them. This game would have been MUCH closer had South not had 4 TO's in the first half. That killed their offensive rhythm as they were moving the ball.

Way to go Bulldogs Im glad to see them get the win. It sounds like the defense was pretty strong and the O-line gave DJ plenty of time to make some plays.

Holmes is a darkhorse in NKY 4A.

Crow never did taste that great. I was disapointed in the way South played tonight. Holmes came to play while South didn't. I think a big problem for South tonight was lack of leadership. Turnover's caused a big problem for the card's, along with lack of hustle on defense. There we're to many people not running to the ball and rapping up. There has to be a big change this week in practice and from now on. The road only get's rougher from here on out.

I had to eat a little tonight as well. I picked SL to win and NL to lose. But I thought SL would win by 2 TD's and NL would lose a close one. I was wrong on both counts.

The turnovers really hurt SL in the first half. Take those away, and this was a close ballgame. The Cards have to learn to avoid the 15 yard penalties as those killed them as well and always at a crucial time.

I think both teams will get better and have better showings down the road.

They have too or it's going to be a long season.

He didn't even play the second half (or if he did, it was as a decoy). James Miller came off the bench for Holmes and was just as impressive running the option.

South will need to clean up their turnovers, tackle better, and cut out all those silly penalties — especially all those unsportsmanlike conduct ones — or else Mercer County will hand it to them.

I think the turnovers should be credited to Holmes. Wasn't able to attend but from what I'm hearing Holmes looked very strong tonight on both sides of the ball which caused SL to make the mistakes that they did.

Congrats to Coach Trosper, his staff, and players on a very big win. Definetly a confidence booster for the kids in Covington. Way to start the season off. :thumb:

They did a great job on defense, and have been taught well in the art of stripping the ball, which led to two of them. The third fumble was kind of close — it looked like the SL receiver just dropped it as he was hitting the ground, and the ground may have even forced it. The INT was nice.

Sorry it took so long to post,I didnt get back from Laurel Cty game until about 3:00 AM. Holmes looked good on O and D in the first half, DJ was a mastermind of the Holmes O. He took a few good licks in the first half and only punted once in the second. James #5 for Holmes took over the dawg O and continued to run the Dawgs down field past the 10-11 in the box D by the Cardinals. Overall it was a great road victory by the dawgs and I am proud to say a Holmes team traveled 3 hours south and won a big first game of the season. IMO Oppion the difference in the game was Holmes's speed compared to SL's speed. SL's D ran a 3-5 D almost the complete game and it didn't help to much against Holmes's speed. Holmes did run out of gas in the third quarter and I'm sure that will be addressed by Coach T and the Holmes coaching staff next week. Holmes will get in better shape, I can guarentee that between Coach T and our D-Line / Strenght Coordinator Coach P we will be in shape very soon. Can you say lot's of sprints? Overall I proud of my Dawgs and it could be an interesting season in the COV.

Dawg out!

Congrats to Coach Trosper and his team!
