Around the NFL's Dalton Scale: Andy Dalton is now a franchise quarterback

Featured Replies

Not going to go very in depth on this but over the last 5 seasons the Bengals have had one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL.

Would you say the Bengals have had one of the most loaded rosters ever over a 5 year period in the history of the NFL?

Ever? Goodness no, but since 2010 they've been near the top as far as rosters go.

Around 20 others would love to have him I'm sure...

More than half.

Definitely - Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Browns, Texans, Broncos, Eagles, Redskins, Vikings, Bears, 49ers, Rams

Right now, maybe not future with whom they have: Jags, Buccaneers, Titans, Raiders

Definitely not - Pats, Packers, Giants, Cowboys, Chargers, Steelers, Seahawks, Panthers, Saints, Colts

He would compete at (this is the group he is in) - Lions, Ravens, Chiefs, Falcons, Cardinals

I think he would be a backup on only nine teams and he might give some of them a run for their money.

Dalton proved me wrong last year and played great. With that said it sure would be interesting to see how he played with another team. The Bengals do have a lot of talent. He has had a top 10 defense each year and weapons on offense. The one year he didnt have weapons was in 2014 with people hurt and he didn't have a good year at all. Almost as many picks as tds and didn't even have 20 td passes. Put those stats with a bad defense and that team doesn't win many games and is drafting a qb early.

I am very happy to have him and since we do have talent we know we can win with him. However would be interesting how he looked elsewhere. He is still not a qb who makes players better around him. He needs the talent to help him.

Was Phil Jackson a great basketball coach?

A pizza franchise maybe.

I'd think the 49ers would love to have Dalton right now.

I'm anxious to see if they show any improvement this season. Last season was brutal.

How many NFL quarterbacks after five years in the league led their team to the playoffs every season?

I agree he is a franchise QB.

the numbers he has had over the past 5 years rival any QB in the NFL

If he could add a Super bowl ring, he gets mentioned as one of the best.

The Linda Lovelace reputation is holding him back.

I admit he proved me wrong last year. With that said people were talking about Mark Sanchez as a very good qb and people in Cincy were wishing he was here instead of Palmer, etc. He looked good and won when he had a great defense and strong running game. When he lost that he became known as the butt fumble guy and more known to be a backup qb. So far Dalton has had two great years, when he was loaded with talent on offense to throw to. The other years the Bengals won more because of a top 10 defense and good running game like in 2014 when they has the 6th best run game in the nfl when Dalton looked very bad when his talented receiving threats were hurt.

So Dalton is still a tough one because he still not a qb that will win you a lot of games because of how talented he is. He is a qb who needs a lot of things around him. He has always had a top 10 defense his 5 years to help keep them in games.

Which a lot of credit goes to the Bengals front office they were able to get Dalton to sign a team friendly contract to lock him up long term. While not hurting their team like Flaccos deal did. The contract the Bengals gave him allowed the Bengals to keep making sure the talent is around him and allow him to do what he is good at.
