Basketball season for 2016/2017 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Augusta? Remember, please be constructive.

Too early to say but I'm hoping some of our younger kids have been paying attention the past 6 years. We kinds like being competitive. I will predict that our fans will support the team no matter what.

Probably going to be a serious rebuilding year for the Panthers, having lost the fantastic trio of Crawford, Maddox, & Snapp. Tanner Pugh, another starter from last year, is gone as well. The only non-senior starter from 2015-16 is Jared Shoemaker, who had a fantastic year, but is presently recovering from serious injuries and we're all hoping and praying for him. Top reserve Chris Staggs has also graduated.

 

So I expect a big step down for Augusta next year, but AndOneDad is right that the team will still maintain tremendous fan and community support.

He definitely won't hurt us this year. We'll have decent size (for us) and we'll be very young. Guard play will be a key for us this year and we need a couple of veteran guards to step up to fill a huge void. Our younger guards are going to be very, very good in time and that may be next year when they're Sophomores. Whoever plays and works the hardest in this rebuilding year will play most minutes. I'm hopeful that by tournament time they'll be ready to pull another upset in the district, only this year an upset could be against any of the other 3 teams rather than just the Royals.
