2016 NKY Freshman Tournament

Featured Replies

I think in a few years people are going to look back and say "CCH had both Casteel AND Coldiron on the frosh team? How good was their JV?"

I'm looking forward to seeing Coldiron back on the bump . Hasn't thrown in about 18 months.

It's nice to have depth in the program.

I think the combined record of Frosh through Varsity is 70 - 16. That's not too bad.

Nolan Turner was the Highlands pitcher. They had a very good year. 19-6 I think is the final record. They beat CCH twice during the regular season.Congrats to Cov. Cath. on the win.

He pitched a great game this time, just as he did the last game when Highlands won 3-2.

As far as CCH depth goes, I have to agree with everything that has been said. The Frosh and Soph classes should help the baseball program compete the next few years, just like in Basketball.

One thing that will be very interesting to see play out is, which guys from this years Frosh team, either decide not to play next year, or are cut from the program. I am guessing there are some pretty good players who will not be in the program next year.

Both teams starting pitchers went the distance and were absolutely awsome. Cov Cath had 2 hits and I believe highlands had 1. Sean Casteel pitched for the Colonels and Nolan ??? pitched for the birds. Evan Stallman also had an awesome game catching for the Colonels. He Had 2 strike em out throw em out double plays.

Yes Evan had a great game behind the dish. Not only did these help Sean keep pitch count down, but, you could feel how they squashed the momentum that the Highlands players were feeling. Especially the one in the top of the 6th. Great job Evan!

Who won the matchup(s) between CovCath/Connor this year.

Any idea who will be starting for each team

CovCath website shows CovCath winning all four games with Conner this year.

Not sure where CovCath is in their rotation, but since this is the last game of the year, they have a couple of options.

I wonder if Conner will bring Luke Radar down to pitch? Another very good frosh pitcher in the 9th.

Nolan Turner- kid is a very good baseball player, his Dad, Lance, was a stud catcher at Highlands in the early 90's. This 9th grade class at Highlands is loaded.

Tristan Thompson, Nolan Turner, Tanner Juett, Cooper Schwalbach, Grady Cramer, Bryce Ziegler are all extremely good.

Cov Cath run ruled the cougars tonite in the final freshman game of the year. Final was 12-1 after 5. Stallman pitched complete game for the Colonels. Conner thru a couple pitchers, who really did not throw that bad. Errors, and mental mistakes really did the cougars in tonite. Not sure they had the sticks to win, but the game would have been closer without the mental mistakes and errors. Congrats to both teams on great seasons!

Congrats to the Frosh Colonels & my Pius boys on their successful 1st year in the blue & white.

Pius was well represented.

Stallman did well.

Johnny is a strong leadoff guy.

Maschinot can go.

Not sure if I'm leaving any off.
