Pulaski County Maroons - 2015 Grade

Pulaski County Maroons - 2015 Grade B

The Maroons went 13-2, beat Highlands and North Laurel in closer than they should have been games to reach the State Finals where they fell to Bowling Green 21-7. With the Maroons squarely aiming to repeat as the 5A Champions, this season came up just a bit short.

Agree or Disagree with the B?

What grade would you give the Maroons? Why?

I am going to disagree slightly and go with a B+ for the Maroons.

I realize they lost to Scott County (and beat Henry Clay). The point is Pulaski really stepped up with the non-district schedule and basically held their own.

Additionally, beating Highlands at Highlands was a huge win. I realize Highlands was down this year but the Birds put it together late in the year and losing to A graded Bowling Green in a close game is respectable.

Again, I am going with a B+ for the Pulaski County Maroons.

I'm good with a B but only because I didn't expect the Highlands game to be as close as it was. That game was a roller coaster that had Highlands fans mocking those of us who chose Pulaski County early on to Highlands fans being really quiet later on. Because of my pain and suffering during that game I took away the + from their B.

PP92 why are you making this garbage up? I was at the game so never read the update thread. I just went through it as what you described usually doesn't happen with HHS fans. There was nothing like what you're talking about. In fact, it looks like the bulk of the posts early on were from you and Jumper Dad. Only post close to what you're saying came from our favorite SK poster. You call him a Birds fan?

You're better than that.

I give them an B+. No shame in losing to BG.

My bad. I guess I confused text messages with BGP posts. I engaged in plenty of trash talk that day. I assumed it was public. I guess it was privately. My apologies.

No problem, just usually get pretty level stuff from you, even when I don't want to hear it.

Texts are the scourge of the earth to me. I hate them. Facebook too. I need to go back to the 1980's.

I can do without Facebook. Only use it to post pictures from grill and keep up with family.

As far as I am concerned they can do away with phones and make everyone text to communicate. I HATE talking on the phone. :lol2:

My fingers at too fat for phones and my brain's too slow to work them anyway. My kids know to call me if they want me and I expect I'm the only phone calls they answer.

B+ for the team

I give Hines a D though.

He didn't believe in his defense enough in this game.

Have to give them maybe a high C or very low B.

That roster will never be more complete and their run over three years seems so dominate, until you pour into the records of the teams they faced. I can't take much away from them and every school would want that kind of three year run. But...

Jeffersonville finished 6-5 for the season

Russell County 0-11

Rockcastle County 5-7

Madison Southern 5-6

Henry Clay 7-5

Lincoln County 3-9

Southwestern 8-4

Bourbon Co. 4-7

Letcher County Central 4-7

Had to play well to beat a good Highlands and a good North laurel squad. Yes, Bourbon and Rockcastle were both nice teams but the Henry Clay win doesn't really impress me when you look at their wins which came against teams that weren't that good.

Bowling Green and Scott County weren't bad losses but I wonder if those losses really explain where they actually are when it comes to being anything higher than the grade I think they deserve? I don't know.

I'll admit, even with the grade I think I would give, they were still a lot of fun to watch and the successes they had, you cant ignore.

Not going to grade but think about this, name another rural county school that has been to three straight championship games. also those kids have maxed out the 45 games in a three year period only three schools Pulaski county, Mayfield and Belfry have done that in the last 3 years.

I wont give a grade but will say what other rural county school can say they have been to 3 straight championship games plus in the past 3 years have played 45 games the max allowed for HS football in KY, the only other two schools that can say that is Mayfield and Belfry

So a state runner up is a B?

My team will take a B every time

So a state runner up is a B?

It's lonely at the top when you're the defending state champs!
