April 29, 201610 yr 80 games for PED use. No comment from his hitting coach. Hadn't even thought of that. :lol2::lol2:
April 29, 201610 yr I guess MLB is going to have to make stiffer penalties for PEDs. For someone on an MLB roster to even THINK about doing this and that they would not get caught is stupid. In my opinion the only way to clean this up, if that is possible, is to make EVERYONE pee in a cup for a test regularly. Otherwise, MLB needs to just look the other way just like what was happening prior and during the great homerun chase(Sosa-Mcgwire) that supposedly saved baseball.
April 29, 201610 yr Pretty good piece on the situation by SB Nation: MLB players could push for harsher PED suspensions - SBNation.com

April 29, 201610 yr 1/2 a season is pretty stiff. football gets 4 games. that is a 1/4 of the season. Not when it helped him land a $50M extension in the off season. Pretty good trade off.
April 29, 201610 yr If the players really want to get serious about this, put a clause in the next contract that says anyone suspended for PED use gives the MLB team the right to void their contract.
April 29, 201610 yr 1/2 a season is pretty stiff. football gets 4 games. that is a 1/4 of the season. If I were King of MLB, you'd forfeit a year and a year's pay or as someone stated here a voided contract. Same in NFL, if they truly want to try rid the games of PEDs.
April 29, 201610 yr It's a double standard with fans. NFL player gets suspended it is hardly news. MLB player gets it, it's the end of the world.
April 29, 201610 yr It's a double standard with fans. NFL player gets suspended it is hardly news. MLB player gets it, it's the end of the world. True. Baseball's always had this sanctimoniousness about it, while in football it's expected. The wear and tear of a 162-game season plus spring training and possible playoffs has to be tremendous. I see no reason not to drop back to 154 games, and perhaps even 144. Or expand the rosters to 27 or 28. Either way, the owners aren't gonna like it.

I wonder if these employment contracts have provisions whereby a team could void the contract because of fraud (PED use) on the part of the player. If not, they might want to look into inserting such conditions, e.g., "Player warrants that he will not during the term hereof ingest or otherwise introduce into his body ........."
