The poise that sophomore guard Brennan Hall showed during NewCath's fantastic post season run as an outstanding floor general has me also wanting to include his name in the conversation for HM, as well as the ever reliable perimeter shooting and high IQ of NewCath's Junior guard Luke Moeves.

 

Though it'll be hard for the Breds to replace Weyer for the 2017 season, I'm still very much looking forward to seeing these guys' leadership skills in action, and fully expect consistent exceptional production.

So you think he should have been HM? Which kid would you have removed? Tyler Bezold, Covington Holy Cross; Sean McNeil, Cooper; Ethan Snapp, Newport. Not knocking Adam as he is a great player but I'm guessing they had to draw the line somewhere?

 

All three of them. two did not play complete seasons and Adam had a better year than the third.

This just leaves me shaking my head. One player from the 5th region HM. There is a disconnect somewhere in the state about things like this. It seems to me some regions get the benefit of the doubt. I've watched a lot of these guys personally on this list and I just don't see it. IMO.

I'd be in favor of requiring every coach and AD to vote for all stars by region and putting all 16 on the all state team along with up to 9 others selected by media to account for multiple stars from the same region.

 

Got to be a better way.....

Coaches vote for this one. Coaches have ZERO chance of knowing who is who besides a few obvious names.

 

Then add in that a lot of coaches fail to vote and you end up with criticism of the team.

 

Rinse. Repeat.

If we didn't sort the honorable mentions by region, I doubt anyone would notice which regions are and are not represented.

 

Think of regions as college basketball conferences. You think every conference has someone worthy of being an honorable-mention All-American?

Many coaches do not get to see a lot of kids all over the state play. Relying on stats to vote implies that only kids that score a lot of points are worthy of the honor. Someone mentioned Doss not being represented because they have a complete team rather than standout individuals. Kudos to them. It takes an entire team playing both offense (which is more than scoring points) and defense.

If you want kids to get all state votes you need to schedule games around the state. If you only play in your area coaches in other areas may not see you play. So should they vote for kids on stats or who they actually have seen. Doesn't the Couriers ballot say vote for the 10 best players you have seen play. I will guarantee you Carson Williams got a lot of votes from the Louisville area playing in the KOB. He was the talk of the tournament. Some coaches don't get to see some players until the state if they make it and ballots have already been sent out before. For coaches that don't vote that's just pure laziness and un professionalism. Courier Ballot has a self addressed stamp on it.

Bottom line is its a joke. Any coach that can't take time to vote should be dismissed immediately. These kids work their tales off for all of you coaches, take the 2 mins needed to show some kind of respect.
